We know this but the thread is asking what is nerdy to the black community and sadly, it is being socially awkward or having no swag. I'm into anime, video games, etc. but I also like to go out, party, and love fashion so when people hear me say something like "I can't wait to go to C2E2" they hit me with the "" cuz they think nerds are supposed to be socially awkward, weird dressing, depressed loners with little to no social life outside of anime, video games, etc.

Sad to say, a lot of black people think in 2 categories: real ass nikka or lame ass nikka. If you do ANYTHING more that the stereotype, you are a lame ass nikka in their eyes.

I don't think so. Someone can be swagless and not be awkward. I can't take any female seriously who cares about how much swag I have.

Well I was mainly just trying to bring black examples up to speak to the thread. I don't, however, think that all people have the same crab in a barrel mentality that we do. I think whites overall are more willing to help/defend other whites than blacks, we tend to be more judgmental of our own than other cultures (just from my observation overall. I know many of us are very supportive). When I look at stereotypes of Asian Americans, it is not "corny" to be smart/intelligent/hard working etc. Whereas in our community there are large pockets of people where those traits make you a "lame"

To speak to your point about bullies, kids are dumb. I was more talking about adults than high school, etc. Even in high school though, in our culture we have "roasting sessions" and things like that where the whole purpose is to belittle each other. Not saying I didn't do it, but it seems more engrained in blacks than other races.

Are you really saying only black people roast each other in "sessions"?
I think any highschooler will tell you that's wrong and I went to a school with a decent amount of white people (and have many white friends) so I know that the same insults black friends would hurl at each other they were doing as well and so were many other groups.
That's just a people thing.
I see what you're saying with the other point but that's just a trait of ignorant people in general or just people from lower income communities imo.

"nerds" are for high school. If you are college aged or beyond, your ass should not still be viewing people who have different interests than you as "nerds". It's such a short-sighted, ignorant term.
Why? Because being studious, inquisitive, introspective, creative, and focused on what interests you most is BOSS.


Also because people who are multi-dimensional are more evolved and more interesting than people who only do shyt one way, only dig what everyone else digs all the time. Be a leader and stop heralding followers. SMDH.

Lastly, if by "nerd", we mean someone who is homely or plain and doesn't respond or carry themselves in a way that indicates they are from where you are from, well, how old are we? 7?
