Game journalism is a great internship for people who want to get into the industry.

Well, this holds true for most "journalism" these days.
Most journalists outlets have enough diversity in their advertising to be able to afford at least a small amount of integrity. Video game journalists outlets are almost exclusively supported by the ad dollars of the companies they report on. Their info is dependent on those companies and honestly they can't afford to do anything to damage those relationships.

These facts are what effectively makes them an extension of game publishers advertising divisions.

Even with this fact, there's still more integrity in video game reporting than your everyday cable news stations.

Cable news isn't really about having integrity it's about conservative and liberal viewers getting news with that political slant. Most of the people with shows on cable news are pundits not actual reporters.
