where are you going to bug out to with your BOB? your first focus should be a "get home bag", and preparation should begin at home. start with food/water security, then physical security, building a community or family with skills you can rely on, then several other priorities, then weapons/kit near the bottom. look into mormons' practices, they prep for adverse scenarios the right way imo. to the brehs who said they're planning on raiding to get supplies then good luck and you'd better bring lvl 4 plates, there's always someone out there with more friends, bigger guns, or better luck than you.

mres are heavy as fukk, you'll never carry something with those in them around. you know what's a glorious piece of kit? fukking candy. it's sweet, energizing, field expedient, and hygenic. getchu something that won't melt and is coated well so if it gets dirty you can wipe it off. mike and ikes are goated for me, they're sweet but not too sweet, hardier than jelly beans/gummy bears, and 7 calories plus one gram of sugar per piece makes it so you can adapt it to your needs.

You can easily avoid these types of things, with decent bank account and prudence. Katrina casualties were generally the result of poverty or foolishness . There is no pride in “riding out” these easily preventabke circumstances


Bug out typically referrs to a mass cataclysm type of event where all of society ceases to function. an event you cannot avoid. Which is very different than your Katrina situation.

I know I know it's not like that where you live. I could say the same and where I live If I drove two or more hours in south or west I'd be in a place where kids get regularly kidnapped. But there's 3 military bases and 2 police stations within walking distance so I'm good right?


Obviously you don't live in a hurricane zone if everyone dipped the secord a hurricane watch happened not only would the roads be clooged and you'd be stuck in a car but Hurricanes are rarely cat 5. I was in a Tropical storm in a 3rd would country and in a place where the power goes out regularly my lights barely blinked. I didn't even know it was a tropical storm till they said in on the news the next day. And or course I was near the sea so if I tried to fly out that would be a non starter so unless I risked going further inland I'd be stuck.


Again no one is planning for an end of days scenario, I already have chronic health issues so although I could live without meds I'd check out quicker than most if it was back to the stone ages. But unless you just plan to just throw all your money out the window and wait in your car for someone to kill you and take your car maybe just maybe you should not live in a flood zone, keep your car gassed up and maintained have strong locks on your door and a couple bags of Hot cheettos and some vodka in the house and ride out a bad thunderstorm or whatever.

Like another breh said you must not have any responsibilities status or firends or family because any and everyone that's old vulurnable or a woman or kid will be calling you and if all you can tell them them is that you plan to lie down in die welll any bytch that you fukked on will be dealing with your neighbor who just happened to have some Cheetos, cheese and biscuits and a biscuit (gun) on them when the National Guard comes around to sort things out.

No one surviving an apocalyptic scenario with no "kit". That's just an excuse for grifters to find a way to make money off of you.

You better have a whole fukking bug-out property, a fully stocked cabin in a defensible location that you know you can get to even if the roads are packed and patrols start closing down the streets....or you're surviving off your wits. The best a kit is going to do is make yourself slightly more comfortable as you're getting from point A to point B, but if you can't make it with nothing, you're probably not going to make it just cause you brought an MRE and some firestarters.

My guy no one is talking about surviving an EMP event. The thread is called How to make a bug out bag. Bug out means dip from a dangerous place to a safer place like what's happening in Sudan right now. If you were in Sudan as an american citizen would you just go outside and strech out your hands until someone shot you? Or would you use common sense and shelter in place until you could contact the embassy and get on a Freedom bird.

Or course in that situation you might want a bug out bag.
