Good info.

How hard is it to find something in the gaming/sports betting industry? Anyone familar with how much money would be your start up cost to move to Vegas? How is housing cost near the strip? Is it a metro city or car only spot?

You basically have to know someone to get a decent paying job in gaming, or have a lot of prior experience.

Housing near the Strip is real cheap but those neighborhoods generally are fairly low income, so take that as you will

It's basically car only, the public transit system is shyt. People do still use it when they have no other option though.

Real estate, rent, and cost of living is generally cheap throughout the city so I doubt it would cost that much to start up as compared to other places

You better have millions of you want to own a gaming business. Just the licences are gonna run you and machines aint cheap. Not sure about regular jobs.

I moved here with 50 bucks 5 years ago. Depends on your standards, you can get a room in someone's crib starting at 3oo/month. Stack up and move on. The bus is bittersweet because it doesn't go everywhere but again, I been here for 5 years without a car. Tbh, i should write a guide because I know mad tricks to shyt outchea.

How were you able to make it with just 50 bucks at the time? Man, I don't think I would have the skills to do that.

Good to know you can find decent rent near everything. Damn, you gotta have them connects tho:francis:

Always thought Vegas was a spot with the "us" vs "the outta towners" mentality, but never been there so all I'm doing is making bad assumptions. This is good info.

Yikesss $50!:mjlol:. Wow:wow:

You must know how to talk like a motherf****!

I was thinking a job in gaming or sports betting but I dont have the connects or prior experience. What do you recommend for work out there? Is it easier to hustle and work for yourself?

What's the normal budget like monthly?

i knew someone here that let me sleep on their floor. I'm a comedian (and entertainment type in general), so I started getting on any show i could and basically demanded money (through my performance and my convo). Got temp jobs driving and doing telemarketing until i could afford my own spot. that took about 4 months. the first one was a little room with a bathroom, and bed in the wall and no personal kitchen. my kitchen was shared with 4 strangers that i never met. i kept hustling up from there.

one little hustle i had was free play. it aint a lot but it can help you with incidental shyt. casinos always have a "player's card" that counts how much you gamble. to get you to start, they always give you free play in hopes that you'll get hooked. the house always wins, you take what you win from that excursion, and move on to the next place. plus they send you coupons for random shyt like that all the time. just use em.

one spring, i was working this telemarketing job and hosting a trivia show at night. i was just barely getting by on the bus. so i went to this casino that had an extra play promotion. i played blackjack for about 4 minutes everyday, and i alwasy walked away with an another 5-10 dollars. so that's what i spent on lunch and such. for 2 months, i made back the money for my commute. you gotta be smart about it tho. dont get carried away. better yet, avoid this completely. im just telling you how i did it.

it's also possible to bus hop in vegas but that's a huge gamble. because if you dont have the dough, you're sol but its pretty easy to sneak on and save a few bucks.

tldr: i did it because i'm an ethical low life that isnt afraid of a little danger.

without a car, using a metro pcs phone, and living in an ok neighborhood, 900-1000 a month just to live. you know what your luxuries are.

How did you become a good comedian? I'm thinking of getting into stand up.

Props for your story and how you came out of it!

I got a kinda long improv background. But i started at open mics and just kept at it. I started getting paid as a stand in host and winning local contests, then I started hosting my own show. Kept at it until I was hosting like 6 shows. And taking gigs that come with people seeing you. Finally got my cards and my site. Im actually taking this weekend to design my merch.

But im kinda rambling. Comedy is about showing up, doing your time, and working on your material everyday. Mostly going up tho. If you do that, even if you aren't that good, you'll probably acheive some kind of success.

Thanks, appreciate it. I have never done it before and was wondering how do you come up with material. Yesterday I was sitting down and I really couldn't come up with anything.

it's like that a lot. reality is this: most of the stuff you write, especially when you're starting, will be trash. best thing to do is focus on being true to yourself.
