Negativity ruined it. Cats think that rapping about drug dealing, swag, smoking drugs, and murder is one of the four original elements of Hip Hop :dead:

But what if that's whats going on in their region.. Shouldn't a rapper from the hood have a right to rap about whats going on in his neighborhood?

but but but so called real mcs have advertisements and sponsorships as well.

Yeah that is true. In hip hop lots of people have been getting endorsments for a long time. I don't really agree with it. But the hip hop mentality has been "we gotta get paid" for a long time. Dudes been getting endorsements almost since the beginning.

I mean, who's to say what's real? People have different tastes. I guess to me, the main thing that makes ur music bogus is dumbing it down or people that don't put their heart and soul into their music.

Rap about it in the sense of glorifying it, no. Hip Hop began as a way to overcome shyt and get people out of trouble through the four original elements. Not to harp about it and stay in the same conditions. People think that being "real" is doing reckless shyt and getting into trouble and the "keeping it real" connotation is all fukked up because of that.

Nothing wrong with getting paid.

Rapping about it in the 3rd person is OK as long as you tell the consequences of it. And not use that as a badge of honor. Too many people can't tell the difference in it and harp about being a "real nikka" when all they do is get into trouble. We need something that can uplift all people in the hood. Not just the ones doing crime, but the aver 9-5ers and so on. Hip Hop is overcoming shyt and to be a better person, not to exploit danger zones.

Nothing wrong with it but at the same time its kinda corny. Trying to sell me some stupid shyt. But then again both athletes and actors get endorsements so its only natural for rappers to want that same kind of paper.

Although rappers have also done a lot of unpaid advertising in their music pretty much since the beginning so I dunno. But that was more about the current street trends than anything else.

You do seem like the type of armchair revolutionary to chase that gray puddin'.

Brother Mel, it's time to take your pills. There's no reason to have a chip on your shoulder, breh. Dusty nikkaz give The Coli a foundation to learn from and stand on :obama:

I might not agree with some of your inane opinions but have the utmost respect :salute:You're probably my favorite poster in The Booth. Now take your insecurity elsewhere, gnat. :camby:
