I don't understand this either. Two things that drive me insane are 1. Dirty kitchens and 2. Dirty bathrooms. I'm so serious about keeping a clean home! Just tidy things up as you go instead of letting it all pile up. Not that difficult.
I live alone now and could be as messy as I want to be since it's my house and I pay the bills, but it's a pride thing for me now because I think it speaks a lot about a person's character. I wouldn't dare have guests over to a messy home. I never leave the house without my bed properly made, my tub is cleaned out after every shower, dishes are cleaned as soon as I'm finished cooking/eating. Sinks and counters wiped down, floors vacuumed and steam mopped weekly (if not more, when necessary), laundry and bedding washed weekly (more if needed) and everything that needs to be dusted is dusted. House is scented with essential oils from a diffuser.
When I was younger, I used to have such a messy room but now that I'm older, I just can't tolerate it. It makes me feel like my life is too chaotic. I also don't understand how many grown people can be so messy, and be okay with it. Seriously, learn how to properly clean, because it actually does matter to keep a clean space. Honestly, some women are worse than men, too, and I am a woman admitting this. There are so many women I could never live with because they are so messy. Clothes and makeup everywhere, hair on the shower wall/in the drains, feminine products not properly disposed of... Just, no. Take the few minutes to clean up after yourself!
