he had his record called diamonds from sierra leone, Kanye made his version rappin about shyt that had nothin to do with the blood diamonds,(and most people heard that first) I think Lupe's version got talked about on blogs and XXL mag then imo Kanye did the remix to not look bad

i got no proof on this one, but i remember lupe saying diggy is like his little brother- but i hear lupe all in this one, especially cadence and rhyme scheme- either way i liked this song. diggy did say he got a lot of advice from lupe around that time frame too

When Lupe's manager got locked up Jay stepped in to help produce the album and help with the behind the scenes business of putting a record out. Since Jay was already working on the album he did a verse for it. Lupe explained his relationship with Jay and how he was so instrumental in the creation of the album back when F&L came out.

plus if im not mistaken hov was the one who walked lupe into them label offices while chilly was locked up. hov had a knack for tryna link with the real nikkas in the city (philly, chicago, houston) and at the time chilly was that nikka in the chi and lupe was his #2 so to say. i know either hov put the million dollars up or convinced the label to help with chilly's bail before he got locked up for good in 2007
