We used too

The Coli really has so much potential. So much you could do with this forum...I wonder how much one could cop this site for :patrice:

But to OP, we lack the critical mass to influence the stock price. We’d need either a couple million members or a couple members with deep deep pockets.

This is a unique situation that will probably never happen again.

Gamestop was hedged against. The hedge fund owes more shares then are actually available, they got really greedy and that one Redditor saw it and believed in Gamestop.

This isnt just a bunch of people buying a stock. Its a hedge fund getting caught with it's pants down and one guy takes a picture and then it blows up on the internet.

Of course I missed it, but I hope some black people got bread off this.

How many more hedge funds can be exploited?

I half think you're right, but I also know there has to be some other companies out there with massive bets against them. I'm sure there are some hedge fund cats today that are scared of laid-off people at home in their pajamas that have the time to go through and compare the values of the companies with the best against them.

And it's too optimistic in the system to believe that all of these billionaires are just going to stop their behavior.

Maybe they shyt down r/WallStreetBets but I have to imagine that the community will just move elsewhere. The internet is too big, right? I'm sure there will be some regulation, but ultimately something like this will happen again, I think, as long as they allow regular people to play the market. Which is necessary.

in addition to userbase, this forums design itself doesn't promote the most reckless/entertaining/meme-like behavior. That's why I think there's still potential unless the Hedge funds closed a bunch of the shorts when the apps pulled GME and the price sank. Reddit will upvote this behavior at every turn and it's being seen by hundreds of thousands of people so the one-upping will only increase.. "sold a kidney to buy more GME." They're putting up billboards across the country already.

The entire format is built perfectly to keep this shyt up so long as it gets enough eyeballs. And at whatever interest the HFs are paying on their unclosed positions makes it an easy sell to people to watch and also to inflict further pain on these people by buying and holding. The entire community whether invested in the stock or meme will in unison promote the buy and hold position.

Really is a perfect storm, the political spectrum outside of socialist/communist critiques about markets is irrelevant because the bad actor is so obvious in this situation.
