I'd be interested to see what the NJPW World numbers are. That's probably the type of platform to launch from. Forget traditional television. It's dying. OnDemand is the way the world is moving. Netflix always comes to mind but no idea what the issues are with them as a company, but I'm sure they exist.

Wrestling is picking up in the UK at the moment. I'm surprised nobody has cut a deal with the BBC. Even if they just offered the product exclusively online through their iPlayer model.

As others have said, the love for the business as well as the financial losses it would take to even come close to pulling something like that off pretty much eliminates anybody who actually has the money to do it. You don't make (and keep) billions of dollars by diving off the deep end and pouring money into something with limited potential. Wrestling was huge in 80's and 90's on a mainstream level and yet WCW wasn't really popping like that until they broke the bank to bring in guys that had already been established in WWE. Now with kayfabe pretty much gone and so many other options in terms of entertainment and the stronghold WWE has the on market it would be pretty much impossible to make a real dent (before millions and millions of dollars were poured down the drain first).

Anyone wanting to compete with WWE has to be the boss of or have major influence of a major cable station (not destination America or el rey) because they'd need 1) a 5-10 year commitment to ride out the early years until they get an audience, and 2) a Monday night slot. The only way WWE fans as a mass are gonna check out a new company is if it's when they're already on the couch trying to see wrestling and its on a channel they already have.

When wiz Khalifa is performing and your friend texts you that Alberto and Rey are on this new show..that's when you'll find the alternative. That's how it happened in 96

I don't believe it is impossible to catch up at all. if an upstart promotion got their hands on the right talent and the right names, the type that might help lend credibility to the product... then anything is possible. all wcw had to do was sign hogan and the rest was history.

it's a huge hypothetical but for the sake of discussion lets assume another company took foot 2-3 years from now and had a big stack of chips to play with. let's say they were able to miraculously sign CM Punk... maybe Brock Lesnar once his contract with the E was up... maybe they catch a few other dissatisfied members of the E on the rebound... Austin lends his name to it...a few other old timers lend their name to it... there's no telling what would happen after that.

What talent? There are no territories to raid anymore. Punk? Lesnar? None of those guys are/were ever on Hogans level to the point where if some rival competitor signed them it would make major waves. Hell, even if Cena signed elsewhere no on would care. WWE is to the point where the actual name/brand means more then the wrestlers. Its ingrained into the majority of fans mind. Cena and top stars leave then Vince will just insert someone else in and keep rolling. It will hurt sure but it will not completely kill the company.

Monday has been wrestling night for over 20 years and being against WWE would force them to avoid dumb TNA-like fukkery. If you're not out to take WWEs fans by being an alternative to WWE, you lost before you got started

of course thats the goal but going up against Raw in a war without any establishment is a bad idea. Id have 2 shows a week and have one go head to head with Smackdown and be live then id have another one on Tuesday to avoid going up against Raw and MNF. then as everything progresses id eventually move to monday

If I was a billionaire, I wouldn't invest in a pro-wrestling company. The market isn't the same anymore. This isn't the 90's where pro-wrestling is on fire and mainstream like it use to be. Also even if I was rich, there's a lot of potential money to lose in an industry like this and it's not worth it. You'll have more money coming out than you have coming in your company.
