Its all about equipment and who mixes it.. take this for example
but if I was a signed recording artist (I'm currently an unsigned one), I don't have to always be at a real studio to feel like I'm going to work.. I guess its a difference in opinion. As long as I'm doing some type of recording, I'd already feel like I'm "at work" regardless of if it was a home studio or Hit Factory in Miami. If I'm on my own budget, I'd prefer the home studio route thinking long term but if I had a label budget, I'd prolly get a couple sessions in in a real studio solely for potentially bumping into ppl I'd prolly wanna collab with.
I'm not from LA.. sorry I can't give any insight in that regards but just wanted to give my 2 cents.
