Whats the best tablet out there?

Im talking about everything processing power, memory, battery life and all that stuff. I know a lot of people dont think they are useful but im looking to get one for my college classes, I have a big laptop that I hate having to carry around school. I want something small that I can just slip in my gym bag.

The one I have looked into the most is the surface and it seems good but its real expensive

Im sure there are some that are cheaper with similar capabilities.

Whats the deal with that lg pad its less than 20$ is it a childs toy

I like the note and the nexus can you break down their capabilities? I know I can use Microsoft office on the surface would I be able to use that stuff on those other devices?
