What's the big hype over this Chance the Rapper kid?

I just finished listening to his mixtape. This kid sounds like a strange lovechild of Kendrick and Cudi and its not turning out quite right as expected. He clearly has the talent rap wise but his songs are pretty average tbh.his voice is pitched too high and annoying and he needs to cut down the singing.

I do fukks wit Favorite Song, Cocoa Butter Kisses, and Acid Rain tho.

To me it's more of a fun tape. I like the instrumentation used on most of the songs. He kinda uses that old em flow on some songs and i feel the songs where he breaks down the violence in chicago and whatnot. I said it in the other thread that if ppl aren't comfortable takin off their cool for a little bit then they prolly won't rock with this tape. Old heads don't seem to feel his ad libs, high pitched voice, and the way he pronounces stuff and cant get past that.
