c00n, Kang? Hero? Sellout?
I heard he listened to everyone and was friends with a group called the Ghetto fighters. It's on one of the specials about him.Great musician/guitarist. Very creative songwriter.
However He was a c00n with his obsession with white women and never speaking out on Black issues...I know he was in the scene for like what 3 years? But still...didnt seem like he had any racial awareness or sense of pride as a Black man...
He had a free concert in Harlem with a Black crowd weeks after Woodstock and they threw bottles and eggs at him![]()

That's true.He taught Ernie Isley how to play the guitar![]()
I never got where people thought he didn't like black women.I wouldn't say he was a c00n. He just found his most success in a white world and embraced it. He was just blinded by that. Not too much different from some how a lot of top Black athletes get pampered in college by mostly white people.
It clouds their judgment when it comes to racial matters.
Those athletes are thinking, "I know there's racism in the world and my people are suffering."
But
"I've spent the last four years getting treated like a king by white people. White men dapping me up everywhere I go on campus and around town. White girls buying me shyt and bussing it wide open on demand. Maybe racism isn't a big deal anymore."
That's how Hendrix was once he hit London.
Before that, he'd played on the Chitlin Circuit with Black artists. He'd dated a Black women for a number of years before he hit London.

He also was from Seattle, Washington. A city where brothas and white women know each other wellI wouldn't say he was a c00n. He just found his most success in a white world and embraced it. Seems like the mainstream lifestyle destroyed him.I wouldn't say he was a c00n. He just found his most success in a white world and embraced it. He was just blinded by that. Not too much different from some how a lot of top Black athletes get pampered in college by mostly white people.

White girls buying me shyt, doing my homework and bussing it wide open on demand. Maybe racism isn't a big deal anymore."
