He had a free concert in Harlem with a Black crowd weeks after Woodstock and they threw bottles and eggs at him

I wouldn't say he was a c00n. He just found his most success in a white world (England) and embraced it. He was just blinded by that. Not too much different from some how a lot of top Black athletes get pampered in college by mostly white people.

It clouds their judgment when it comes to racial matters.

Those athletes are thinking, "I know there's racism in the world and my people are suffering."

But

"I've spent the last four years getting treated like a king by white people. White men dapping me up everywhere I go on campus and around town. White people inviting me into their homes. White girls buying me shyt, doing my homework and bussing it wide open on demand. Maybe racism isn't a big deal anymore."

That's how Hendrix was once he hit London. His music wasn't accepted in America. Neither Blacks or whites were feeling it. But, in London, whites fukked with his music and style.
