One of myy favorite follows on Twitter :russ:

The thing is most people just want to be loved. Show interest in that kid and show him different way, he may turn out differently, Their are plenty of kids who come from bad homes who are productive members of society and many had outside support giving them the love and attention they needed.

Sorry I am jumping in in the middle of the conversation so forgive me if I am off base but the issue expressed by Dr. Umar in the clip and many others is not that there aren't individual good black men.

The issue is that there is no collective effort to change a negative community. Just "taking care of your own" is not enough because children stop being influenced by their parents pretty early, and the culture takes over.

It's like cooking a beautiful meal and then setting it on top of a heap of garbage and then expecting it to stay edible.

Individualism does not work. I think a lot of AA really do not comprehensive group economics. How most other communities interact when it comes to group economics compare to how AA participant in economics is literally night and day.

Until BP really get a firm grasp on the concept nothing will change. And no one is teaching it and I have yet to see or meet an AA who full grasps it or participates in it fully.
i think this thinking is part of the problem

until the level of individualism hits critical mass—ie you have enough good brothers rearing their own families to become a significant numerical majority and then by sheer force water will rise to raise all ships, there can’t be any collective efforts to better the community

i hate to look to white folks as the standard but for them and even other races they don’t take “collective action”, its a conglomerate of individuals aspiring upward and then later building connections among those like-minded families that naturally raises the standard of living. not some silly abstract shyt like sitting down and agreeing to do “group economics”. group economics is the outcome of individual effort in aggregate, and not the input where group wealth begins. we gotta let go of that upside down outside in thinking bc its getting us nowhere

I can speak for Nigerian households we were still influenced by our parents even after earning a college degree. Not everyone is expected to make it. Other groups shun, don’t reward and enable those within their community who are draining. You and Umar are telling us to continue enable the Pookies, Ray-Rays, and the women who choose to be incompetent mothers. There’s no incentive for them to change.

Exactly…the method Umar is suggesting is a crash dummy mission that actually feeds into white supremacy

You have no argument so you start babbling. Sad. :francis:
No your dumbass doesn’t have any actual point outside of black power slogans

I would honestly be surprised if you could form an original thought. You probably have Jason black playing right now

Go outside and start controlling these women. I’m rooting for you

Some of these kids have issues that are far beyond a football coach, youth instructor, or school counselor’s scope. In most of these young boys’ cases, you almost have to adopt them and place them in an environment they can thrive.

A majority of BM I believe have the heart to do that in extreme cases, but I also believe multiple BM adopting Black children that aren’t theirs puts into perspective how bad the REAL problem is

It starts at home. Until that’s fully addressed on both sides, you are placing a band-aid on a deep cut.

Umar has two kids he does not take care of and is constantly getting hauled into court because he does not pay

He admitted that he does not even see his kids and his youngest he had no idea what her middle name was until he was in child support court for not paying

He admitted that he pays his child support in “bulk” Meaning he waits until he is threatened with loss of license/passport before he pays the minimum

The court has been trying for years to determine his income and have been forced to set his child support at minimum wage. The court also ordered that he get a job but he ignores it.

He galavants around the country telling people what to do with their kids but he almost NEVER talks about his kids. Never takes them with him. Never shows them

He admitted that he cannot see his youngest without supervision. So he got mad and refuses to see her

He has made two single mothers and married neither. He did have a mock wedding to two different women tho

He wants the black community to be where the “village” raises the children. He pushes this. This way the responsibility is off of HIM to raise his own seeds. He thinks this is a better model than having a committed relationship and marrying one woman and taking care of your own kids

Umar is not credible in this convo at all
Boom.
