I never boxed professionally or amateur, in my mind I started to late (25) but I was good enough to spar some pros from time to time. One day Jeff Lacy was sparring a cat and I was next in the ring but against someone else. Well after the last round, the dude Jeff was sparing got out and I got in waiting on the other dude I was sparring to get in.... He never did and Jeff stayed in.
Mind you this was the time he was clearing nikkas out with that left hook.
The bell rang for the round and I was hoping someone noticed cause I didn't want to speak up and look like a hoe. So I danced around the ring for a bit just thinking like cool breeze "Listen to your corner and watch for the hook" well you gotta throw a punch sometime, threw that 1-1-2 and tried to clinch. Man Lacy ducked and threw an uppercut and when he threw it everything went in slow-mo like when Tommy Hearns hit Martin.
Never been hit that hard before, when you're seeing stars and snot coming down your nose. Time to choose another profession. Till this day I

watching elite combat sports wondering how they can take that kind of punishment over 12 rounds like it's nothing.
