For a haircut maybe a month to 6 weeks max I would say, actually maybe a bit longer during beginning of Covid. My hair doesn't grow that long in my opinion. I usually get the 2 setting on the razor on top so its cut short but not excessively long by the time I decide to cut it again. I go to my boys crib for that. He knows how to cut so I ordered my own machine on Amazon and one of those cape things. Haven't been to a real barbershop since like 2019 if that. No charge either, I'll just grab him a beer or something like that when we go out. But we boys anyways so not like that's not something out of the ordinary. I usually let my beard grow with my hair and might trim it down before getting a cut but I feel you on the looking scruffy part. Usually trim it short tho, maybe 1.5 to 2 cm I'd say. Been maintaining it low more often these days.
