That Bazemore contract was a mistake though. But hindsight is 20/20. But reading through this thread makes me realize I undervalued him. Y'all make some good points when y'all point out what other players have gotten on the market. I disagree with THJ having a better basketball IQ than Woatmore though. If anything, I think it might be equal.

That bazemore and crabbe contracts along with Noah's and the mozgov/deng deals were the worst contracts given out...You couldn't even trade these guys without attaching a good quality asset.

Not sure.
He didn't show much with the Knicks and only showed a little growth with Atlanta.
He's not a bum, but I don't know what guys like him are getting now. Last year the FA market seemed to explode.

I mean if Wesley Matthews got 17M last season from the Mavericks, I gotta think maybe Hardaway is in that ballpark

Considering we gave Kent "WOAT" Bazemore a 4 yr/70 million dollar contract for a player with less scoring ability or BBIQ than Hardaway the Hawks would be in a tough spot not to match that type of deal. He'll get 15-17 million off the strength...you're lying to yourself if you don't see him getting that type of deal
Exactly. A dude on the same team that he is clearly better than is getting that type of money.

The only thing you worry about is cap flexibility if they decide to give Milsap more money. Black German, THJ with a new deal, Bazemore, Milsap, and Dwight gets you to the playoffs, but not far unless an owner wants to go over the threshold. Milsap leaves, and it's a whole new ball game, and I think it would be better in the long run.

I thought he's improved alot since joining the Hawks.. from an outside point of view . He's worth keeping .. I could see him as a dope 6th man at worst if he keeps getting better.
Damn sure better than Allan Crabbe :stopitslime:

why did knicks let him go anyways. seems like he was better last year than courtney lee
It looked like he was gonna be nothing but an inefficient scorer who plays no D at one point, so Phil traded him for a mid round first pick, which seemed like a good deal at the time. That pick turned into Jerian Grant, who didn't show much in his first year, so he was packaged for Derrick Rose, which also turned out to be a shytty deal. Only time will tell Phil gave up to early on Jerian too, but the way I look at it, neither Jerian or Hardaway would've had much of a chance to develop on the Knicks anyway :manny:

He's one of those players who keeps improving and his jump shot is pure. Factor in that his pops played in the league and he was always around the league GMs will throw 15-19 mill a year at him. And I think he could be worth it dude clearly knows how to ball and get better.

Here's the thing: WOAT has no BBIQ at all and his game is dependent on other people making shots easy for him (my brother @#1 pick has explained this to me numerous times but I was too hard headed to listen). If we had to compare the two players I would say that THJR has a better BBIQ from the standpoint that offensively he moves better without the ball, can create his own offense and is better with his decision making. He's also not an uncoordinated oaf who trips over his own feet like WOAT does.

My point in saying all that is that if a player like WOAT, who even Bud had to bench on some "enough is enough" shyt can command $15 million a year for 4/70 million then THJR is getting that at least

How about a Deng for Bazemore swap? :mjgrincry:
