but when that housing bubble burst and no one in the country wants to live there anymore....
And as they age and no longer become "useful"?
move to some exurb or arizona like the rest of the old people. after they retire then the things that concern me will no longer be in play. i feel teachers, police, firefighters, etc should live in the cities they serve

The 580 going to Tracy/Stockton is deadlocked starting from 4am to 9am heading west (into Sf) and from 3pm to 6pm (into Stockton/Tracy).
It's a hour drive with no traffic. I have driven to Central Valley during peak times, and it took me 3 hours to drive there. there are people who spend 6 hours on the road everyday because they can't afford to live in the Bay.
It really is amazing. Going east after the altamount pass is like going into a different world. The weather is completely different, the people friendlier and nicer, and homes are literally 1 million dollars cheaper on average. It really makes economic sense to commute those 6 hours.

It is a progressive utopia out here.
Minimum wage laws are passing in every city. Almost Every city's a populated by a non-white majority (usually a combo of Hispanic and Asian), even some of the richest and nicest areas like Cuperino have either majority Asian populations or significant Asian populations.
Plastic bags have been banned in every city.
Republicans lose every district. I was a local republican volunteer for 4 years. The situation was very desperate to where we actually started endorsing democrats just to stay relevant.
There are "Pride" demonstrations in every city.
a co-worker at my job got a sex change and he (I guess she) is regarded as a hero in the office because of it.
there are so many county or city run voucher programs for homeless and poor people. the whole Bay Area has become a sanctuary zone.
The only non-progressive thing out is that there are no black people. However, we have a small, but prominent and successful population of the so-called "good" blacks. the friendlier, kinder and more agreeable African Immigrants, who don't intimidate white people and just seem to work so-hard. See now white folks have group of black people they can have as neighbors, and they don't have to feel guilty about that whole slavery thing.

I understand it from that perspective. Well medical marijuana, although seen as recreational for most might be a medical need, the alcohol that doing too much but I think people can suffer from withdrawals from that as well, the cigarettes is just over kill. I'm okay with medical need. My tax money goes to a bunch of shyt I dont agree with ALL THE TIME. I could stomach it for this more than I can for paying to get a racist cops ass out of trouble.
