that means nothing

less than 1% of Americans are in the Military or served but if a thread was made asking who was in the military there would be quite a few posters who were/are

6figures aint fukking impossible:what::ohlawd:

You have to understand that you'll find more of any particular group in certain places. On a hip hop message board full of young minorities I'm not shocked that a number would be serving as cannon fodder (I keed I keed). I just don't envision the Coli as ground zero for six figure salaries. And it isn't. I only know of maybe five or six people who have outright claimed a six figure salary. Only a couple seem dubious.

Something I think we should all consider:

Capitalism itself doesn't prohibit all people from clearing a high wage. There will always be jobs that require specific skill sets for which the market is willing to pay good money.

Given this, why most people will never clear 100k/year is for two reasons:
1.) Insufficient intelligence
2.) Insufficient drive/motivation

IQ isn't necessarily book smarts either, but also social/business savvy; how to position one's strengths and find a market willing to pay well for what you possess. In all honesty, I'm not the smartest guy in the room in terms of book smarts. My GPA in college was mediocre for a business/finance major, and math is one of my weak points. I'm about a standard deviation above average, but I understand what academic prestige means in some circles and I speak well, so I've used that to my advantage. People need to be self-aware enough to understand what their niche is.

The second reason should be obvious.

:yeshrug:I understand where you are coming from but it is possible. Last year one of my best friends who is only a year older than me 32..tried something new with his knowledge from taxes and make 70k in a month and told me he is going to set up shop in central florida and open 3 or 4 offices. My boy stuck to his plan and this past April bought a sick condo in miami beach, a hundred and fifty thousand dollar car a range for his wife..and told me he cleared $798k and is off for the rest of the year until November and will be on the grind again until April..Thats 5 months, he told me he is opening more and will clear a million in 5 months, and do the same next because clientelle and more offices...He is a smart dude so I know he wont blow his money, but what I am getting at is find a niche and capitalize..A little luck, hardwork and timing is a great combination. I am not balling like him yet but I have my niche and and in 6 digits for a couple years now..Im still young, have a MBA, but I am not looking for a 9-5 to make money because you will only get confortable living on a job....Your own business, or multiple streams of income/investments is the way to go, but I am sure you already know because it is said all the time, its just not easy to get there as people on this forum says.

LOL, sounds illegal as fukk. He is probably doing tax scams lol.

Especially in service oriented economies, low-skill jobs are either outsourced or substituted by capital (i.e. machines) instead of labor.

No bro it's all LUCK. Thats it. Your lucky to have gone to school, your lucky to have graduated, your lucky to have that job you have, and your lucky to be living the life you live. How dare you try and motivate people to aim higher in life when you know they will never be as lucky as you

considering how the net is so commonplace for most Americans to spend their leisure time

RamDam, you are a smart guy, but you also work for someone, meaning you can be fired at any such time. You might still say that you can own your own business. Now when people say this, they still don't realize they are working for someone else (the consumer) and that any point in time, the consumer may cease business with their company.

If either/or of these happen, are you then not intelligent/driven? Even in your current state, are you implying that your current success level was/is not the work of something more than how smart or driven you were?

The way you all underestimate your upbringing is crazy.

You're successful but you can't seem to see shades of grey, only extremes? :leon: How convenient. At least we now know that intelligence is definitely not a factor.

Oh so ur saying that acquaintances were happy to give a kid in college startup capital just cuz u said it was a good opportunity? Why would they trust some kid over more established investment opportunities???? :aicmon:

I'm smart, persuasive and know a lot of people with trust funds, winning combo

Depends on the field you in, your connections, the area you live in. I live in NYC and i worked in a crappy field, lost my connections that i had from school and going out, i would say at this point, never will i make it to that level, i missed to much time at the crap job to advance now.

I didn't say it's unbelievable. I said the opposite. The number of people here that have claimed six figures seems legit to me. But there aren't many. And that's in line with a hip hop messageboard. This ain't the WSJ forum.

I agree, I can get fired at any time, especially in the volatile industry I work in, which is really why ~5 years from now, I'll be more interested in building wealth than attaining a certain salary goal.

However, it will be the skill sets I have learned at my job working for someone, that will allow me to either strike out on my own and build a business or invest my earnings into personal holdings. It takes drive and intelligence to develop those skill sets.

And I don't think I'm downplaying my upbringing at all. My mom had me at 20 years-old, unmarried. No college education. I made more money than she does in my first professional internship. I'm lucky to have been born in America, but I don't come from a privileged background.

I didnt know they made that book a movie. i kid. I see what homie is saying and I agree, im just trying to give yall the same logic that ive been receiving all thread.

All ive heard is how making 100K isnt realistic and how its :duck: to say it is, so I decided to start applying the same logic to show yall how stupid it sounds. These people dont know anyone making 100K+ they think its not possible, and thats the attitude i HATE.

I cant speak for GOODMAN or any other poster but all im trying to do is show and tell yall that its possible to make a 100K. Key word is POSSIBLE, but the only person who can decide that is YOU
