What's The Normal Age That People Hit That 100k/Year Mark?

I respect the hustle of you cats who are eating. Y'all are right. It really hit me about a year ago that in order to REALLY get what you want in this world the most important things are to believe that you can do it, set a goal, then figure out a way to get it. I got to a point where I realized I was taking what life was giving me and not going out there and getting what I wanted out of life. Moved out of my girl's lavish crib, broke up, and started to GRIND!! I've accomplished more in the past year than I had in the previous 10...and all I did was change my mindset and work habits--I don't even consider myself hustling "smart" yet, cuz I'm just getting into it.

Luck is for chumps, imo. You are lucky when you are prepared enough to find the right opportunities and smart enough to recognize which opportunities are the smart ones. If you work hard and work intelligently and keep your eye on the prize, then I feel like anybody can be successful.

The reason why only a small % are successful isn't luck, it's because only a small % are willing to do what it takes and also have the knowhow.

Depends on your field. It's real easy to make that in IT if you're motivated and a hustler. Even easier to make it if you're a small business owner. I hit 6 figures at 25. Being a consultant has it's perks

I make $76k now, so i'm on my way. 5 years (40 years old) i should be there, if things keep going the way that it is now...

but realistically, it has less to do with how much you make and more to do with how much you keep after paying bills. i'd rather make $50k a year and keep a large amount than make $100k and keep little to nothing...

I know I'm late but it has more to do with career choice than age. Some careers will never get u too $100k. Others u can get there easily and before 30. I u chasing money, pick your career wisely.

I used to think the magical number of $100K was a big deal while I was in college. But then I got into the industry I'm in and realized it aint shyt.

Correction, I realized getting paid in cash really aint shyt. I consult on executive pay and the amount of money that exec level employees make on stock options, perf/time based restricted grants, etc is astronomical compared to whatever direct deposit cash you getting every 2 weeks.

I know exactly how dude feel though. Unless you act like you have some urgency to your shyt, you'll be 50 talking the same talk. If I ain't push myself the way I did, I wouldn't have made it to 130k when I did. shyt, I cut off cable, and didn't watch TV, sports, or play video games for like 2 years straight, just straight grinding.

Now I'm taking the same energy and applying it to my company. If I can put 12 hours a day for a year, I know I can hit at least 100k/yr working for myself. If you trying to make it, you gotta act like there's a fire under your ass. If you don't you'll always be average.

Let's be real the majority of us if we are lucky will max out at about 50-80k unless due to inflation 100k becomes the new k

these numbers are definitely more realistic than the local statisical numbers that I have been seeing in this thread. This respresents the country as a whole unlike people who were pointing out local regions where the cost of living was much higher.

Depends on where you live, go to a place like Birmingham Alabama, and see where 100k takes you, you will live great, but in a place like NYC or Boston you will have to budget. I read that article earlier this year too, alot of it has to do with people living beyong there means.

I reached 100k when I was 28, I work in DC and I've been in the IT field since 99. 100k is not easy to make, bcuz it's not about how hard you work, it's about where u are, how you work and who you know.

I'd say it's

30% work
35% luck
35% resiliency (underrated)


Most people making 100k in the IT don't work that hard, 2 hour lunch breaks, come in late, leave early. Takes days and weeks to get a 20 min task complete.
In the IT field for every person making 100k, there's 15 making 40-60k working on the helpdesk or at some technical support gig. Working way harder than us.


Ya'll can be optimistic all you want, but if waiting for someone to hire you at 100k.

The chance of you making 100k for 10,15,20 consecutive years are slim to none. You better off starting your on business. That's what I'm look to do.
