People talking about waiting a year, in that year not only will you miss great games, but also have no advantage to waiting.

You've said a lot of ridiculous things and this is one of the most ridiculous out of them.

- Those games will still be there in a year. You don't "miss" them.
- Likely price drop on console. Definite price drop on games.
- Some people don't like being early adopters thanks to hardware malfunctions.
- Whatever reason you may have to not spend $400+ right now.

Most of these people don't exactly have a lack of things to play.

most of the desirables are cross gen or current gen...theres no BC...PC gaming makes generation lines a moot point...launch line up is weak and feeble...and for me personally, i'm behind anyway. i just finished arkham city and just started bioshock infinite...

if you intend on getting one, and you can easily get it whenever you want...then you already have one essentially. you just haven't played it yet

Playing a new non-multiplayer release is basically the same as playing it a year later. Why buy Knack now for $60 when it'll be $15 this time next year?

Playing a year old game online a year later may not be the same, but there's likely a new better online game that you can play then. So you missed COD: Ghosts? Big deal.

Warranty is nice but it's not enough for some people. And some of them have good reason. Dealing with having to return consoles and wait and sometimes get refurbished instead of new is a hassle. Waiting a year is typically not an actual hassle.

You're not going to get anywhere talking about who's poor or whatever. Saving $50+ on a console and being able to buy more games when you buy a system is certainly a reason and an advantage to waiting. That goes double if you are already buying one next gen system and waiting on another. Comparison to ipad means nothing.

That's cool that you do that. But for someone else, if they know games are coming and "$400 is nothing" then they might just wait to buy it when the games are actually there instead of let it collect dust in the meantime.

i understand the allure of buying new consoles as they release. you always wanna be current.

but it really does pay off to wait, at least for me. there's still plenty for me to play on playstation 3 that i haven't gotten to, and i can play most new releases on my pc. i don't really fukk with multiplayer anymore, so i don't care if in a year from now communities have moved on to other games. prices will drop, the consoles should have their bugs ironed out for the most part, etc.
