Never cared for Twitter and facebook.

i got off social media back in 2012 after a particularly frustrating year dealing with people

the shyt that fukked me up in particular was people acting like I was they folk on facebook and twitter only to not return texts or show up for anything in real life..and im talking about people who were in my circle for real at some point..

like nikkas will get on facebook and wax poetic about me on my b-day but not show up for the real life party type shyt...

so after the hiatus, trying to come back and be active is still difficult til this day..i got lil dummy accounts to follow feeds i fukk with on instagram/twitter/tumblr

but i cant really bring myself to post anywhere outside of here...it seems real real pointless mainly because...who gives a shyt?

now im of the mind, if im not contributing something legit...like maybe having a niche blog or trying to promote something i got going...there's no need for me to be all over social media...im not that interesting

I use it to stay on top of events and goings-on and see all my babies , people use their phones for everything but communicating these days anyway. I hardly post but it's a good way to share little bits and pieces of what I'm up to.

I honestly don't like the thought of someone being able to put my name in Google and pull up my life.
I'm very private about my life, though in person i'm outgoing.

And maybe i'm old, flabby n sick(I'm not tho) but i honestly am bothered that looking through someone's social media has replaced exchanging numbers early.

I'm not on social media heavy because I don't care.
For example:
I had a Snapchat 3 years ago. I went from an iPhone, to a Samsung, then back to an iPhone in a week, and when I got the 2nd iPhone I didn't download the Snapchat app. Why? Because I'm tired of looking at people post useless stuff. --> like when I was at the beach in Miami, I was in the beach. In the water having fun. I looked around and saw people taking pics and videos and I was just thinking to myself, y'all can't even have fun at the beach because you're too busy 'stunting for the gram'. Yeah you can take pics and videos, but really? You're at the beach for 30+ minutes and ain't stepped in the water once. Didn't make sense to me.

I have Facebook, but it's boring to me. Plus, I don't like how invasive it feels. I have everything set to private. The other day I was on this hygiene page and I asked a question to a specific person about a specific thing. Why did one of my friends (who is not a Hygienist) send a message responding to what I asked?

I have a twitter and an IG 1 personal, 1 for my blog. I use the ones for my blog so people can read my blog. That's it. I rarely go to my person IG-1 because I'm tired of looking at selfies. I hate selfies. 2 I hate switching back and forth between accounts.
I do get on my personal twitter for entertainment, but I notice on certain days it's boring because the guys I follow talk about sports.

Plus I don't like how FB, IG or twitter show chronological posts anymore. Idgas about what's trending. I hate that if I were to go on IG right now, I won't see any recent posts. I'll see posts from like 4 days ago.

Makes sense

Its prolly true for others then but for me personally I was talking basketball on the internet way before social media was really a thing. Like 2009/2010 so it was pretty much Facebook and then another place where i talked basketball
Good point breh. Thanks! But you could take this onto social media and gather a following based on your thoughts. How would it be to have a side hustle podcast of ppl who listen to you?

It's corny. Everybody wanna be all up in the videos , all on the records dancing. :takedat:
Shyt lame.

We ain't on that jester shyt over here.
If you are lame then yes it is lame.

Because i only have 4 real friends and everyone else don't really really fukk with me like that which is mutual.

Most social media Is about showing status. Proving to strangers you are an interesting person by cliquing via common interests
I hear ya. But it seems like We wouldn't be friends... kinda negative, and extreme... but I actually like your posts!

Not sure where you guys get this fallacy tho of having to prove yourself as if social media is the advent of that. You are constantly having to prove yourself in everyday life, friendships, business, relationships.

It's nature, we don't support or believe in what we can't see. That's not feeling pressured to prove yourself, that's your ego speaking, it's common sense.

social media as in facebook, instagram, and snapchat?

you're all too busy chasing p*ssy and don't get the bigger picture of it all lmfao
!
You are lame breh. Stop it. Red flags all over it. You don't have real friends and there's nothing wrong with it.

You prolly cool ppl too, but no one fukks with anyone that negative.

Projecting about chasing p*ssy. Most ppl I know ain't slidin into DMs. They just use social media the same way y'all do here.

Hell, I have a good friends who don't post personal things just their work, and it gets retweeted around the nation. Puts $$$ in their pocket.
I don't know how to use it :flabbynsick:

I also don't like seeing people doing better than myself you get all these workout vids and I'm here nursing chronic injuries.
Valid points. But why not learn a new skill? Learning to adapt, I think this is really the driving force. 95% don't know how to use it or get results so they shyt on it.

Talking bout social media is social currency when these girl with millions or hundreds of thousands of followers are still your local Starbucks barista.

Social media is overrated. Unless you make real money off it then I understand. Its basically a hobby

That the thing, social media can make you money very easily. VERY. As long as you are about something. Being an influencer is a guarantee to always have access to money. One of my boys wanted to be a comedian, so he was doing the videos on instagram and what not. Got up to 15K ppl, local companies hit him up. My chick is a fashion blogger. Only has like 1500 followers, but her work is A1. Local and out of state companies blow her up to send her products for reviews, become a brand ambassador if she likes it. Makes a cool $500 a month just off african head wraps.

The bolded rubs me the wrong way too. Seeing known losers, female and male, generate so much interest in their shytty lives pisses me off. Because like you said, it's a hobby. I don't have over 300 followers on IG yet. :stopitslime::francis:
This is true. But they put the work in. That's like saying im mad someone with less quality is mnroe recognized than me. Somewhere, that person made better moves.
I'm private.

I don't have any social media....no FB, Twitter, Snapchat, or active Instagram ( I haven't update it since 2015).

Any site that requires me uploading and updating my life does not appeal to me, but I'm old skool. I like forums ( Black only) for the conversations and shared information tho.
You don't have to update your life at all. Post your work. I'm of the belief that everyone has a hobby. DO it, post it.
There's a thing called real life that's a lot more enjoyable and rewarding.
Another reach. You can enjoy life fully and still indulge in 20 minutes of social media a day. You likely spend more time here that adds 0 value to your life beyond its update on news.
I'm guessing you make music

how do you do this

i feel like if I spam too much I'll lose important followers
My boy quit his job as an engineer to promote for ppl. Makes more money now. You hit up influencers and break bread to give an honest review and post. You find that bad chick or poppin dude out here, DM them, drop em the song/beat, whatever. Then just let em post and you drop 100 in their account. Simple.Organic. You should NEVER post or spam your music directly.
I'll be at the club or a party and I'll just be in the moment. Later on, I'll think about all the stuff I could've put on IG but by then it's :yeshrug:

I know I live an interesting and fulfilling life, and if people don't believe that because it's not on my social media then there's nothing I can really do about that.
This is a real thing. You dont need social media for that tho. I never thought that shyt was cool. real social > social media. I'm just saying you can be at home and give an opinion or ask others opinions, document something small and impersonal.
1# I dont need ear and eye hustlers.
you will never be able to put a finger on how
I move/where i live etc

2# If I aint seen you in 15 years youre
not important to me.....important people
got my numbers.

3# I dont need to show off for mutha fukkas.
The haters and cops got enough nikkas to
deal with already.

4# aint nothing like people seeing you out
and being genuinely happy to see you because
they have had no way to get in contact with you.

5# I was there for the Myspace era.
if you missed it you dont know what a
real feast is......it'll never happen again.

Eh, another negative post. Starting to believe you just boring breh. And there is nothing wrong with that. Psychology tells me, hopping to the extreme of "I don't have to show off" says that you have nothing going on. You can be on social media and not show off breh. Just interact... how is show off the only thing that comes to mind.
You have to really know who and what you are to be heavy on social media IMO

if you lack self awareness or tend to seek external motivators/validation you're setting yourself up for a painful experience. I'm not here nor on social for either of those

I like using message boards and social media, it's helped me meet some real good people and contacts that I may never have otherwise been able to get in touch with. I maintain my privacy just fine

Filtering thru fukkery, drama etc is worth it for that alone.

Thank you, this is what is real. I feel like another root cause is social media with their face attach will poke holes in their pretend lives. When ppl know who you are in real life and see how you act online, if its not congruent, ppl gonna get at you. If you dont know who you are yourself, its naturally gonna come off fake.

I use social media for connecting too, not validation.

Don't confuse most with the same 10-20 people we see starting and posting in every thread. Some of us come here for entertainment during the down times.

That is very true. My apologies if you think this is directed towards all.
i have a pretty decent social media following, to promote my craft and work mostly

other than that im pretty "mysterious" on social media

i like to us fb to find events/parties, but i dont really post or like other people's thing. social media is great to find out about other people's things/events, but i dont share too much outside of professional accomplishments/art
Exactly hwo you should use it. Display your talents/strengths.
#1. I don't own a SmartPhone.

#2. I'm an Introvert.

#3. My business is none of YOUR damned business.

:snooze:
We don't care about your business bruh. Nobody tryna pick your life apart.

If you got somthing good going on, or a talent, share it.
I'm not on social media heavy because I don't have anything to bring that's worthy of views in my opinion.
I think I could go through your posts and find interested shyt you got going that could bring you at the least a small following. IF you truly have nothing to share, use it to share your homies shyt.If you can;t be great or be the best, be the most helpful.

They'll pay it forward.

Boom! THere you go. You have a fukkin blog breh. I read the rest of your shyt, and unless the shyt is very dope... sry most of us arent gonna be interested in reading it. But if you put your face to it, some videos, and post it and connect with ppl. They will buy into you as a brand and check you out.

Right? With everything going to video, blogs are gonna be out of here all together soon. There's vlogs now. How do you plan to handle that transition? WHy not start now?

Also, PM me your blog link. Ill peep it

Due to the content of my blog, I don't post my face. (It's not sexual)
But also due to the content the people that read it will continue to read it.
I get alerts often that my "stats are booming" aka I'm getting more traffic. I'm not popular, but I don't want to be popular.
I won't be vlogging.

For me blogging was something I did for 'fun'. I had shyt I wanted to talk about so I did. Im over it now, but I do have people contacting me asking when I'm going to post, this or that, but like I said I'm over it. I won't stop blogging (at least for the time being).
I don't make money from blogging. But I have occasionally gotten free stuff. (The problem with getting free stuff is companies want you to only post positive stuff)

Ummm...

Why would I be on social media heavy...

Like what is a good reason to...
And I am on social media...but it's for marketing purposes...

It ain't to connect with people...it's to sell them shyt...and promote shyt...
You just answered your own question breh, social media is one of the best marketing tools now. Just peep how all these corporations got social media teams posting memes and shyt.

Ok we get to page 7 before op comes with it-
~'internet is real life'~

Well, it's not

You on Facebook??
they decide what to do with you
they control the direction
you have what social currency they let you have, doggie
now if you are just clowning, it doesn't matter to trade nickels for pennies
But if you put in serious time and energy, why turn the direction of your life over to others??

it's the future, you say
Is that what Twitter told you??
they are marketing a sales pitch
If you haven't sunk your entire net worth into their stock,, then you know..
Deep down, if you are being honest and all..
Maybe you should stay skeptical

It'd be like saying battle rap must involve intrusive claxons with a voice saying "don Demarco"
Nah
That's one BRAND of battle rap
But you can't duplicate respect??
That's a saying, doggie
Just like the Dallas cowboys are America's team
Gee, if I don't like the cowboys, I must hate America :troll: it's all hype

Furthermore..
Message boards larger than the coli have disappeared overnight
You type up 20k posts of horseshyt, collect your 100k of piddly daps, come back tomorrow..
Poof
Nothing
"But I thought this was real social interaction"
:mjlol:

Yes, society evolves as well
The social constructs of human interaction shift and change
But there's no middle man taxing the exchange
Or redirecting the topic to something neither person wanted :beli:
