This has nothing to do with Dwight. We have seen numerous coaches suck and get jobs. A guy with no head coaching track record generally has to meet at least 1 of 3 criteria to get a coaching job:

1. Hot assistant
2. Charismatic and/or Articulate
3. In with the right people

Do any of these describe Patrick?

First thing is Pat was an azzhole during his playing days. Very standoffish and didn't network well. Same as Kareem.

Second, he's a poor communicator. Gotta get those thoughts out quickly as a head coach.



Love Pat, but he's gonna have to work on his weaknesses.

Honestly Patrick always struck me as a guy that didn't seem very bright. At the very least he isn't a very good communicator, which seems like an important quality for a head coach.

maybe i'm wrong for it, but i also thought the accent would hurt his chances.

besides, if kareem cant get a job, then what does pat expect? a lot of these player/coaches also have rings
