If they meant that, my ugly ass wouldn't be in a 10 year drought...
Or were they only referring to good looking black men?
That's always the case. They're talking about the stereotypical ideal version of a Black man. Not just any black man. Just like if you said you love Latinas you're probably thinking of a girl whose curvy with a small waist, wide hips, and a fat ass. Not a fat refrigerator shaped flat ass Mexican broad.
With that said, non-black women (but especially white women) assume almost all black men share the stereotypes surrounding masculinity that women find attractive. So just being black is enough for most non-black women to assume you're probably a dangerous guy/thug (this is a turn-on for women by the way). I can't tell you how many times I've had women tell me they were surprised after meeting me that I was a nice soft spoken guy. They assumed I was some sort of rough hard guy just off how I looked. Black women don't tend to say it as much cause I actually don't look like a hood guy. But being black alone a lot of times is sufficient for non-black women to assume you're some violent hood guy.
By the way this is why corny looking brothas do better with white women than black women. Black women can actually differentiate between us and can tell which one of us are hard and which ones ain't. White women see almost all black men as the same and assume we share the same stereotypical traits. It's why they'll clutch their purse when we walk by even when we don't look like the stereotypical hood guy. The flip side is those white women who are attracted to masculinity will see a corny brotha and just off him being black think he's hard.
