Some black men just want to be left alone

Can't go to work in a corporate office unless you're dressing a certain way and have hair a certain style, can't drive to work without getting pulled over, can't get pulled over without maybe getting killed, can't take a vacation to another country without getting called the nword, can't complain about being called the nword without being called feminine, can't distance yourself from people calling each nwords in songs without being called c00n, can't look anything but fresh when it comes to clothing and style without being called a lame... and on and on.

I started this post with one example and they just kept coming.

None of that existed on the Continent. Live behind enemy lines, brothers.

I feel like it used to be worse back in the day

Nowadays here we can openly discuss different genres of music and the joys of soft rock

Back when I was a kid you'd get roasted to oblivion listening to "white" music

IT was like that prior to 2004, before Kanye came in.

Back then, you had to be a "real nikka" and mean mug like Styles P or Beanie Sigel all day, getting into fights.

When I read the black literacy rates, I always say “nah, I don’t believe it.”

Then I come on here and see grown folks with 2nd grade reading comprehension levels.

I’m torn
