What's up with the Hawks now?

Took a look at that roster now and literally hit the :gucciohmy:

This is the players under contract they have right now:

Schroder / Delaney
Belinelli / Bembry
Bazemore / Prince
Collins
Plumlee

They also picked Dorsey & Kaba in the draft but have yet to sign them.

Free agents are: Ilyasova, Hardaway, Sefolosha, Muscala & Humphries.

Out of those, only THJR is RFA and they'll probably throw bands at him to stay. They'll most likely PAY Muscala to stay. Sefolosha, Ilyasova & Humphries all should walk unless they offer them some stupid money.

They have plenty of rookie/low contracts, Schroder is on a good deal, Belinelli is expiring next summer. But gawd, Baze is getting stupid money for being mediocre and Plumlee, well No one is touching that unless they give up assets (which they don't really have, save for perhaps Prince?)

2 years agon they had a Teague/Korver/Carroll/Millsap/Horford core (with a good bench), won 60 and made it to the ECF. Teague, Carroll, Millsap & Horford all walked without them getting anything in return, and they traded Korver & Howard for some garbage.

Can't lie, that roster as it is won't see 20 wins next year :gucciohmy:

Do they just tank for a few years and see what happens? What mediocre ass player are they overpaying (lesbianest, stars aren't pressed to play there)? Is it back to early/mid 00s Hawks futility? :mjgrincry:

We got great management now. That's always been our downfall, being a horrible drafting team but now we got great scouts, management and coaching. No more terrible drafters. Babcock, BK, etc

Ya'll haven't really had the opportunity to draft in the recent years, but Schroder at 17 was a great pick a few years ago.

I live in Atlanta and kinda follow them since I listen to the local radio show but Heat is my team.

From what I understand the fans don't wanna get tied up to Milsap for 4 years. But honestly I doubt any other teams will give Milsap more than 2 garanteed years at his age so I don't see why the Hawks would even worry about having to outbid 4. He's still a very good player, tho.

It seems like the Hawks problem is that they struggle to attract premier free agents like they are typically not even in the discussion for the FAs.

They seem to have a good young core from their picks the last two years, tho. They are raving about the French kid they got last year. I haven't seen him play since I didn't watch that many Hawks games this year but word is he came on towards the end of the year.
