What rich 20 something year old would willingly choose to live in Memphis:jbhmm:

Whats attractive about the city that would make it desirable for a young wealthy man?

Low taxes, no traffic, clean water and most people are cool af, long as you don't bother them sure you might get charged a window tax if you leave shyt in your car but thats happening in every city now.

Google and Ford investing billions here, setting up major operations, St. Jude and FedEx both expanding and now we got two R1 Carnegie Universities.

You keep talking about history. Memphis today is not the same place from MLK days. It's basically a 3rd would country today lol .
Belle Meade, Richland Acres, Forest Hill Irene, Shady Grove, Southwind? You wouldn't know about those places tho, cause you only know what you seen in the Media.

Graceland says hello.

The irony in posters comments is that they're essentially doing the exactly same thing being complained about with SAS and helping to fuel the narrative of moving the team.

I always love talking to folks about their opinion of going to Graceland before and after.

Before it’s all “Oh I can’t wait to go check out Memphis and especially Graceland, we are such big fans, it should be fun to explore Beale Street as well”.

After it’s “Wow, the area around Graceland is, ummmmm, why is it so bad around there”.

I used to live over in Centennial Gardens behind the Best Buy over in Southwind.

That area ain’t nice. :mjlol:

My girl used to talk shyt about me living over there, talking about I’m too close to Shelby Drive and Hickory Hood. And I’m like “well damn bytch everywhere in Memphis is close to somewhere bad”.

That area has large houses because affluent white people used to live there before they hit that white flight over down to Collierville. So the houses are big but they cheap as fukk because nikkas ain’t keeping them up. Grass ain’t cut, broken down cars on the street, fences missing half the pickets, terrible schools, etc….. I never saw a Krispy Kreme get shot up till I lived over there.

That’s one of those areas where you drive down Hacks Cross and you can tell what everything USED TO BE. Cause everyone who was there originally left, and you got a bunch of Ice Bar, Juicy Crab type restaurants in an old Applebees.

Rock and Roll, the Blues, Soul Music, Al Green, Elvis, Alex Haley, Tina Turner, Bobby Bland, Maurice White, Stax Records, Isaac Hayes, Aretha Franklin. Right across the river in Arkansas there is Albert King, RosettaTharp, Johnny Taylor, Johnny Cash. Right down the road in Mississippi is B.B. King, Oprah Winfrey, Morgan Freeman, Bo Diddley, Son House, on and on and on. :what:
Man you just gave us a super quick history lesson in like a paragraph. Got me over here like :jbhmm: on some of these.

I want to visit Memphis because of the history. You just have to know where to go.

The Sam’s and Walmart still there but you remember where the Target and Fridays was. Yeah they closed the Fridays, Target, and the Best Buy is a bootleg furniture store now.

Were you there when the Tornado came through and hit Hickory Hill? Man I was and I knew some cats who owned businesses in that area. Usually people are sad when their shyt gets rocked. They weren’t though. Every one was happy for the insurance money. Everything closed and moved to Collierville. Even businesses that weren’t really hit took the opportunity to close and move.

My barber owned a shop over there and his building was wrecked. I called him up trying to see if he was ok and that nikka was JUBILANT. :russ: Talking about the lord blessed him. With a fukking tornado! :mjlol:

And someone in here taking about “that’s a nice part of town”. :dead:
