Whats up with Troy Ave saying "real rap" is basically gangsta rap?

Yeah, that stagnant way of thinking. I wonder what the 80s cats think about that statement. :mjpls:

Im buying Troy Aves next album off the strength of this tweet:blessed:

Edit: Single out radio singles but fail to mention Man Down, Gun Go Off, Fully Loaded Clip etc. brehs

I dont think 50 Cent at that point was any more or less hip hop than Kanye, but youre lying to yourself if you dont think that sales war opened the door for a lot of weirdo shyt years later.. now nikkas is more concerned with shyt like "high fashion" than the quality of their music and everybodys trying too hard to be left field instead of just being good

Just look at some of the weirdo shyt Kanye has either co-signed or inspired over the years

People made fun of G Unit tank tops but Kanye has grown ass men wearing skirts and he just co-signed the first homosexual rapper.

he actually has the potential to be a great artist as far as music goes, but he always tweets or says some dumb shyt in an interview that makes me not want to listen to any of his music.

Hovain really needs to have a serious talk with this idiot and get him to "just make music".

This wayward kneegrow :snoop:

i kind of agree with this tho.this was the beginning of that im just a regular non-threatening everyday guy type of rapper becoming the status quo with "gangster" "aggressive content" rappers getting pushed to the back.this very event is what made nikkas like drake, wale & j cole possible.you always had non gangster rappers but they were never the majority like they are now.literally changed hiphop my nikka.
:wow:

Maybe the super thug rappers got old, stagnant, and refuse to move on with the times. I mean, they had 20 damn years of exposure and being the forefront before people got tired of them and wanted something new. They also (subconsciously) shytted on many of the predecessors like Chuck D, De La Soul, and so on. For some, the demise of street rap is :to: , for others, its a strange form of karma.
