I don't care who you're voting for, but what's the actual process like?
I'm white, currently 33 and reside in Jefferson County, Colorado. In 2016 i lived in Lake County, IL and was obviously 29.
Since moving to Colorado, voting has been very easy. We receive our ballots in the mail, with a large packet that explains every issue on the ballot, including Colorado Supreme court nominations/issues, and in depth bio for each candidate. Voting is done thru mail, or via a drop box. Voting can take anywhere from 2 minutes to a hour, depending on how long you spend reading the voting packet. This year it took about 15 minutes for me to fill out, 8 minutes to drive to the drop box. Total 31 minutes.
In Illinois, voting is a pain. You have one designated area you can vote based upon your address. Even though there are plenty of polling stations, people tend to go to the polls at the same time (before work, lunch, after work) so there's typically a 20+ minute wait. No educational pamphlets about the candidates or issues, etc. Definitely a pain in the ass. I'd say voting in Lake County took 20-30 minutes, with 15 minutes, each way to the polling station.
Every state should vote the way Colorado does. What's your experience?
