Is it 2011?
damn cant even dye our hair without it being some white people shyt
kind of "no fun allowed"
I don’t have any face tats, but I think they are a sort of status symbol. If you got face tats you either 1) don’t give a fukk, 2) have made enough money to the point where it doesn’t matter how you look.
I’m not getting any face tats myself though, even if I was super rich
This is deeply insulting . I believe you must be a white man to stereotype Blacks this way.
So, all those things are the only things that define Blacks? Not generational wealth, not healthy practices, not investment, not education, not political organizing. None of that ? However, weed and drugs and tattoos define us ?
I’m tatted all up, but nothing above the collarbone. Both sleeves, chest, ribs, back. It took me almost 10yrs to do all that. Got my first one in 2003 and probably my last one in 2012.
It usually took me 4-6 months just to come up with an idea for a tattoo. So it always trips me out how someone in 4-6 month timeframe can go from 0 to all tatted up. Like do any of them have any meaning? Or you see your favorite ball player or rapper and wanna join a trend?
That’s my only beef with tats, if they have meaning, then its a beautiful thing. But getting tatted to fit in is corny. Someone like jordan clarkson, he went from 0 to all tatted up in the next season. Same with most of these new corny mumble rappers too.
Look at how many people dapped that post too.
We complain about being put in a box when it comes to our portrayal in the media, but then co-sign it at the same time.
Tattoos are corny and for try hards imo. Plus u gonna look foolish after your youth
Looking foolish after their youth you say
They already all look weak minded and foolish NOW breh
True that but that’s what the older generation said about us breh. Millennials are pussies and the older generation walked 3 miles uphill to school in the snow. Perspective
Nah breh, this one is totally different..
Even the older generation knew tats were for sailors or other hard men. They were not socially acceptable unless for a tiny segment of the populace.
Now even 5 year olds are getting tatted up by this dysfunctional generation
People just wanna get that social validation, that's all it is.
One of my exes wanted mad tats and piercings to help her feel secure about herself and feel accepted. I responded that what she described to me was an oxymoron, but it's your body. She didn't like that answer tho.
You realize more and more that people are happier when they build themselves up and shape themselves into the image of what other people want them to be rather than having their own goals and ideas of what they themselves want to be.
Don't have tats and don't want em. Everything is fleeting...the only constant is the love for ones family...and I don't need a tat to remind me of that
actually, the list of people you listed also did it for the same reason. You just want to be subjective and state that their meaning was more important, but again, its subjective. at the end of the day, if someone thinks a tribal tattoo makes them look better (elevate), its up to the interpreter, its their choice, and its been done for centuries.
