I absolutely agree. Dude can be seen more as a strict parent than an all knowing being. I personally don't believe in a god with human attributes so .

If you are going to be a good person, why do you need to believe in something? You already doing good, so adhering to a faith really isn't necessary

I didn't make the thread with that intention but you are more or less correct. I practice a solitary spiritual path but I was raised christian. I wanted to know what others thought.

However, I didn't realize folks would stray so far away from the question. I was expecting "I'd rather be _____ because _____".

Don't you think an "all-knowing" god would know that you're just saying it so you don't go to hell?

In fact, don't you think an all-knowing creator already knows who is going to believe and who isn't? Why send someone to hell for using his brain the way YOU created it to work?
