1) So, in your mind, only SOME (see: few) men would be let into this prestigious plural marriage club? On top of that, what's the point of a 4 wife cap? If you're going to exist in a society where a man can have multiple wives, what's the point in setting a limit? Who does that help and why would anyone abide by it?

And also, if your requirements are that ONLY certain qualified men are allowed to practice polygamy, what is to stop the wifeless, disenfranchised set from rising up? Hell, what's stopping the affluent men with 4 wives who want a 5th from disobeying such loose doctrine?

2) Your ideal society would be one in which only SOME men are allowed to practice polygamy (to an extent, of course) and all without any sort of religious doctrine tied to it. How does that work?

3) If it's "far more complicated" that people realize, tf is the point? Why the fukk would ANYONE, let alone a majority of men people cosign or enforce something that very well may not benefit them at all?

It’s far more complicated than you are stating, in this society where normal marriages don’t last, think that a man can keep two women contempt and accept such a situation. Also the type of polygamy I’m defending is one which has regimented rules.. most men would be disqualified because they would have the means or be able to treat all of them equally. Well, that’s another issue entirely compared to western society, but because women are able to work and support themselves men who would otherwise have a guaranteed wife because he would provide for her are losing out.

Before, a mans ability to provide was the most important aspect of a woman choosing a mate, now a days we can be even more picky, considering physical attraction, for example, and wanting that and the ability to provide. 7. It favors regions with larger populations. In smaller towns, a few polygamous relationships devastate the dating market

The way I understood it was that polygamy in Africa or at least recently came about in large part due to the slave trade, because there was a great dearth of males.

Monogamy is just as natural as any other set up. No woman in today's society is going to take an L sharing resources, attention and affection with another female, when she can participate in the workforce. There is literally no incentive to take on that emotional turbulence especially for a man who isn't a billionaire, with perfect looks and a sterling personality. And even then, soon as he goes to see the other wife...chicks looking at the next dude to fulfill her "emotional needs".
