What's wrong with TLR?

I've asked myself the same question because page one of TLR is asking that question in various ways.

I don't think TLR needs a new mod, and if it is given one the mod should be appointed by current mods.

This mod should be active on here. moderating TLR to improve it is going to take someone aware, responsible, disassociated, but familiar with the history and future of the coli. I haven't encountered that poster.

They have to understand TLR is a source of daily entertainment and income for well over ten thousand people. Love them or hate them few posters create productive content on this sub forum.



TLR has habitual line steppers. There's a line dividing acceptable Internet etiquette and being crass. Some posters choose to cross that line.

In reality we all know what is acceptable, but online, discretion isn't common play.

It's like cooking a meal for someone, if the food looks and tastes weird to you you're not serving it to someone else. discretion sir, that's what I'm getting at.

Balance, TLR needs balance. Everything is taken too far. The homoerotic threads get out of hand. The DL brother witch hunt is out of hand. The militancy is out of hand. The racism is out of hand. The fukking trolling is out of hand. The homophobia is way out of hand.

The dikk riding and mob mentality is all the way out of hand. Majority approval doesn't mean something is correct. It just means it's popular.

I'm a habitual line walker. So I'm a great judge of when the line has been crossed.

I would still suggest moving Spotlessmind to TLR so that she has control over both The Salon and TLR. It makes the most sense, since she's in here all the time. Especially if you are hesitant adding a new one.

Bmack21 made some good points. To generalize what he said, more threads are being created that should be moved to the bushes. And as I said in the previous thread, there are a lot of duplicate threads in TLR on the same news topic. Someone makes a news topic or posts a video thread, and someone comes along and creates the same thread right after or sometimes a day later when the original thread is still active. Sometimes the mods catch them, other times they don't. So you have two threads floating around on the same exact topic. Most people don't seem to notice that though.

The flip side about modding is judgement. It's probably something that a lot of people don't think about. Knowing when to warn someone, when move a thread to the bushes, or knowing when to remove someone from a thread is the most important thing. (Just as much as how they present themselves) It's more than just nominating someone because they are well liked. The least popular person may be the best fit for the job.

Edit-I feel like there are a lot of people here that may fall into the trap of member demands here and falsely remove someone from a thread or do something else because everyone in a specific thread labeled them.

Anyway, I've been rambling. Sorry about that. TLR modding can probably be solved if a section announcement is made letting members know that the increased trolling or low quality posting is not going to be tolerated. It just seems like we are in the season where everyone is trying to out gimmick post each other.
