I think overall you need to ask someone. What do you like genre wise, as this one guy said he wasn't cool with DBZ since it's just guys screaming; wanting more action. So I told him, to check out Hellsing OVA, should be right up his alley and the vampires are the cool ones.

grave of the fireflies or barefoot gen for the people that like "serious" drama

berserk for the people that like game of thrones

ghost in the shell for the scifi crowd

if they liked harry potter then they gotta like full metal alchemist

golgo 13 for people that like james bond

To start off lightly, I hit'em with the first eps of Bebop and Samurai Champloo. If I need to use a movie, I throw in the GOAT Akira or MAYBE the OG Ghost in the Shell. I need to get GITS: SAC on Bluray so I can use that

u must wanna leave them like showing a first timer ghost in the shell....shyt i was deep into anime by the time i saw it and was still like

but like most ppl i'd show a anime rookie yu yu, fullmetal, or bebop....might start em off on HxH nowadays too
