Not really, it was never an exact science, and people shouldn't treat it as one (that's where some go wrong). It's not like you have to be one of the three types exactly, it's just a descriptor of certain attributes.
It was originally designed with a psychological component in mind to find people that might be more prone to criminality. It's complete bullshyt for the most part.
There are genetic attributes that affect how we all look, but to say there are three distinct bodytypes is silly. When bulked up to 202 pounds people would say "he's an endomorph" If you saw me now at almost 160 pounds, lean and defined, you'd say, "Oh, he's an ectomorph."
Individual genetic differences, diet, exercise, age, etc. Those are what define how we look. I think somatotypes are just very misleading and contribute to ignorance about fitness and exercise.
