I have over 30 colognes, and this and Terre D'Hermes gets me the most compliments by far. Creed Aventus is a lady killer and the smell is distinct but I still prefer Terre D'Hermes. The smell is just

Too many to name...

I don't have Aventus, and while it does smell quite nice, it seems to becoming the Aqua di Gio of high end colognes-- aka the 'go-to' name' that everyone starts buying. There is a cheap alternative called "Fresco" by Ilum Dean that is supposed to smell very similar to Aventus, and for cheap.

Cheap body spray has gotten me more compliments than expensive cologne.

Wore some oil the other night, and the expensive scent it mimicked was recognized shortly after I walked in.

There is a smaller size that retails for around $205 so she might have gotten the smaller bottle? My wife then gets a discount so she didn't pay full price.

As far as the smell. Hard to explain. It smells very grown man. The tobacco smell which isn't strong smells like the tobacco from a pipe. If you really want to know what is smells like go to any high end retail store. They should have it. Also check out this one.
