Just had this happen, a while back. I sent her a text and she left it on read but shes all over snapchat and Ig having a blast. Started ignoring her, she sent me a snapchat and I opened I and didnt respond.
Needless to say, she started blowing me up.

Kind of depends on the gravity of the text and how much that person means to me.
I've left people on read all the time with texts and social media messaging solely with the intent of getting back to them at a point in the day where I don't have the free time to really hold much discussion so little else can be said after the fact. So I can't get bent out of shape if someone did that to me for a few hours. DAYS? Different story, but again it depends on where that person stands in my life and the nature of the text
I.E. if I need help and I text or call my girl or one of my best friends, and I don't hear from them promptly, I'd be mad as fukk.

As a person who does this...
When I get sad or something, I may not reply immediately to someone's text or message. Because I don't wanna be like "I'm good." "I'm fine" and fake how I'm feeling if they decide to dig and dig. I don't feel like opening up. It's rather personal with 1 on 1 conversation/interaction. However, I will reblog some pictures on tumblr or something, just because I don't have to give it energy. It's still like an escape.
