Head up in the primary, Trump would definitely beat Desantis but it wouldn't be by 20+ points.

But lets say we see a Desantis, Trump, Haley GOP primary, Desantis takes that because the R's who are scared of Trump have cover in a third candidate to hide their votes.

its not about desantis being a good candidate; he isnt no one is saying desantis would beat obama

the age difference is gonna dominate any and every conversation, and no one likes bidens VP. its just not a good set of circumstances to run the oldest president ever against an energetic guy in his 40s

Trump can't beat Biden in '24 because he doesn't have the juice with the independents and evangelicals like he once had. Even the people who don't want Biden to re-run would begrudgingly vote for him to ensure Trump doesn't win.

Desantis could potentially beat Biden because a lot of those worried about Biden's age would probably sit the election out decreasing the turnout and a lot of independents and evangelicals will look to give Desantis a chance.

The only thing that guarantees a Biden re-election in my opinion is he selects a new VP (Big Gretch probably), and he's running against Trump in that order.

I'm not sure I follow the logic here.

Hayley (or whoever's) votes would be almost entirely Never-Trumpers who hate Desantis too. I don't see how that has any appreciable effect on the race.
