Even as a young kid I thought that Pac was a wild man and possibly could crash out. While Big was a calm and relaxed person who was somewhere on a beach just chilling.

But I was too young to consider his crazy ass friend Puff, that the LA area has the worst degree of crabs in a bucket mentality as in always trying to bring down black men doing good, and that Pac had the worst stans of all times

Interesting question.

The answer should be no for everyone. To say yes is revisionist
🧢

You cant say that for everybody

When it happened we were young but also ignorant enough to think that Biggie set that shyt up himself and that Death Row and all them nikkas HAD to get him back

The day Biggie died.... we cheered cause we thought "they finally got that nikka " :hubie:

We were fukked up looking back, we were WAITING for it to happen

Can't fukk with me on this :wow:

This is the moment I came "online" as a kid and started caring about hip-hop. Always read the paper because we had to present current events. Journalists were printing stories rehashing the "East Coast/West Coast feud directly speculating on whether there would be retaliation. There's a reason why everyone blanketly blamed the media for it all before we had the details we have now.

I wasn't a grown ass man with Greg Kading books and YouTube videos, but it wasn't a hard conclusion to draw. Aside from that, in the mind of a 5th grader everyone on the playground is throwing up west side or east side and hyping up the myth of it and everyone had theories :mjlol:

And I grew up states away from all this.

Then the Pac is alive theories and darkness of his last work had me shook. You had to be there breh

I used to think being a celebrity means people were trying to kill you. I didn’t really understand the whole situation because I was so young at the time.

To be fair, no one thought anyone would be dumb enough to shoot either of them in the middle of traffic in front of damn near hundreds of people in the distance. Look at the amount of rappers today killed in public during the day. The same goes for Dolph. No one thinks they will be gunned down in daylight in public. shyt, Malcolm was killed in front of almost 300 people and all of the killers got away except one. I'm no rapper, political figure or anything, but this is why I move the way I move. Everywehre I go, I got 2 pistols on me(legally) and when I go into places to eat or sit, I'm sitting facing doors with my back to a wall if I can.

Well a lot of LA rappers like B Real was shot at while in his car,, WC had beef with street nikkas who was shooting at him, some nikkas was pressing kurupt, and other rappers was dealing with LA gangbangers…

LA gangs don’t give a fukk who u are and where and what time is it to shoot…morning noon or night…

U have to grow up here to understand, just like Chicago… unfortunately pac, biggie, puffy and others didn’t understand that and that led to their demise and the labels

We dont know who...but we know its foolish for them being in la

The shooters wouldn't have came to NYC trying to kill Biggie...

Jimmy Henchman wasn't going to let his "investment" go to waste.

The wild thing about Biggie's death is that apparently they were out there for nearly a month......so they were really asking for it.

Biggie was supposed to go to London right after the Awards for press but Diddy cancelled the trip for him and forced him to go to the party.

no. Because 2pac was shot on the coast he was claiming and representing. I didn't know anything about the details over here on the east coast. I simply had no idea what was going on. I'll never forget the day both of them were shot. I was watching Tyson/Seldon the night prior and found out about Pac getting shot on a sunday. I thought, "again?". I was playing Nba Live 96 on Sega genesis at 730 with my homeboy and another one of our friend came running to my crib out of breath to tell us that Pac had died. We stopped the game, I put a vhs tape in and recorded BET and the news all that weekend(I still have the tape. I got to convert it).

On march 8th, I was in a different location than I was 6 months prior. I had just watched Johnny Tapia fight Jorge Barerra on HBO(I'm a huge boxing fan since the 80s if you don't know). After that, I got in bed turned on the tv and the soul train awards was on. I now know it wasn't live but the last thing I remembver was Biggie presenting an award on stage and saying "what up Cali" or something to that effect mocking them. I didn't think anything of it, I was tired and I fell asleep. I didn't watch any tv that whole day sunday. Sunday night I'm flipping thru channels and turn to mtv and biggie is giving an interview. I stop it there and watch for about 2 minutes and the words came scrolling across the bottom of the screen, "The Notorious big was killed in a drive by last night......". I'm thinking, "what the fuuuuk????". So I saw none of that coming, but a few did though.. I was gullable.
It's kinda like my experience with both deaths. I was at marine Corps bootcamp in September 96 when our Drill Instructor of all ppl came in to the squad bay and was like who like that "Tew Pack Shaker?" Some of us including me raised our hands. Then he said we'll that muthafuka is dead and good riddance. We didn't even know about the shooting at that point. He just came I'm on September 14th and announced his death.

Fast fwd to Biggie's death we were in NC, Camp Lejune and we watched the broadcast of the Soul Train awards in the barracks and I remember when Biggie came up to present and did the "what up Cali?", thing and the demographics of our barracks room was me the 1 Texas breh and a Louisiana cat, an Alabama cat, and a cat from South Carolina. So naturally we were on some fukk Biggie shyt too. Then the next morning we all saw the scroll on MTV about Biggie. Then MTV news immediately came on as it did that entire day like a "Breaking News" type thing. But the main thing we all said was WTF was he in California for anyways he should have known better.
