I mean he let Hailburton go right by him that was disgraceful
Haliburton had already done it a few times earlier in the game. It was dumb for the Bucks to allow that switch so easily or to not have a secondary defender cutting off one side so that Giannis could overplay him on the drive to one side to give him a fighting chance. Giannis doesn't have the lateral quickness anymore to stay in front of PGs like that anymore nor the quickness to catch up and block it when he's blown past.

That's where Haliburton's body positioning came into play. He did the subtle cutting in front of Giannis before jumping so to block it Giannis would have to go through his body and foul him. It was bad D by Giannis who also shouldn't have been playing so far up on Tyrese in the first place considering Tyrese had just blown past him.

If Jokic was down 1-3 in the 1st round and the game-winning bucket was scored on him like this, the whole front page would be filled with threads shytting on his defense.

Nothing but crickets when it happens to Giannis.

Only 1 playoff win in over 1000 days.

But TheColi ain’t got no smoke for him.

Look at the starters game 1 and then the starters yesterday Giannis is the only guy whose the same. But you expect him to win with a bunch of scrubs

I'm not sure how this debunks what I said.

Do you think when posters on here are shytting on Jokic's defense they're using the appropriate context, or do they just like shytting on him because it's low-hanging fruit? Do you think whenever the majority on here is shytting on a particular star's defense they're being truthful in their assessment or just doing it to hate?

Also, I don't know why you're referencing the lineups he's playing with in regards to him getting cooked 1v1 at the end of the game.

Getting cooked at the end of a game seems to be his thing now.

Is it fair to judge a big man's defense on how good he defends the perimeter after 40 minutes? shyt might've changed :jbhmm:

Maybe it's changed given that the big men, like Sengun or Giannis himself, sometimes move like guards. Demanding a lot more from big men on defense too.

OKC handled that very interestingly last year, when they had different people defending depending on how far away from the paint they were. Which was when idiots kept on saying "Jokic is getting cooked by a 'short ass' Caruso", when Caruso only covered him until he entered and was later joined by other, bigger, guys.

His defense isn't really good before that point either. He doesn't move the needle on the perimeter nor in the paint.

:manny:

But that's somewhat to be expected if you've to carry an offensive load like he does. I just wish folks would start to realize that instead of thinking he's this great defensive player when he's not.

He is obviously going for a steal down 3 and over forcing it. Now you can make an argument that its a one possession game with more than 24 seconds left so play straight up and that would be correct which isn't necessarily a reflection of his defensive ability as a whole in my opinion and more like a oversight in a high pressure scenario

Also I think there is a sliding scale when it comes to defense and usage offensively. How much load someone carries and their effectiveness on defense should be linked. The body only has so much energy it can exert. Trying to hold high usage players to high standards defensively is a bit much. Long as you aren't a complete liability as a high usage guy its fine.
