I've watched the NFL my whole life until this season. Thats why it's called a "boycott" you old ass nikka. You can't boycott something you never fukked with in the first place.

The above post might be the dumbest shyt I've read in 2017 :laff:

Something I've pondered recently because of analytics, rule changes QB's who where mediocre in the past like Dilfer (Ravens) Johnson(Bucs) would thrive in this short passing era because that's all their teams wanted them to do back then, the short passing game was seen as a bend but don't break offense if you weren't all ready running west coast.

One thing the article left out was officiating each time an exciting pass play happens you looking around for a flag then comes one

Holding offense:gucci:

So not only did your qb/wr complete a 3rd and 10 for a 30 yard td now the ref decides to throw the flag on something that's borderline

3rd and 20 and now you're out of field goal range :mindblown:

The talent in the NFL is just weak. There are simply not as many great players as there used to be.
the talent isn't weak, the NFL just doesn't know how to promote anyone not playing QB, they don't know how to build stars. the focus on QB's (which hasn't even worked as most QB's aren't even stars - Brady, P. Manning, and Rodgers/Newton/Brees to an extent are the only QBs to reach household name status) while not paying or promoting players at other positions thwarts recognition of their talent and ability to crossover into mainstream/household stardom.

a complete non-sports fan like my mom probably can't name anyone in the NFL right now aside from brady, yet she could at minimum name 10 NBA players and try to watch a game just because of them. the NFL is also missing the memo on how big personality driven stardom is for 30 and unders - think of all the non talented reality tv/social media personalities that have become pop culture lexicon simply because of their personality and followings. the NFL should be doing more to promote interesting players vs trying to assimilate them.

The lack of star running backs hurts.QBs are fun and all, but highlight reel runs help make the game exciting. The early 00s had so many very good backs and less of a focus on QBs

yea, they fukked up here too by completely devaluing the RB. RB's were just as big of stars as QBs through the early 00's, but they've killed them (moving to RB by committee) the past five years and worked hard to kill (quiet diva) receivers during the TO/Ochocinco era.

Word. You barely even know what any star receiver sounds like today.
I remember back in the days watching highlights and seeing nasty runs and funny TD celebrations

Think about how all those highlights have been reduced just last year the NFL told blogs and websites to cease and desist on using gifs from games on twitter. The Antonio Brown play when he jumped and kicked the kicker that was fun that went viral that's what the people 30 and under want to see.

Chris simms is talking some bullshyt about completion %

Weird what he said there. But high completion percentage in today's game means nothing in a lot of cases cuz when you dig deeper, a lot of those QB's aren't throwing the ball much further than 5 yards.

NFL basically put everything into elevating the QB at the expense of other positions and the game. The league forcefeeding us "stars" like Cousins :mjlol:

his logic doesn't make sense because in majority of cases high completion % means offense is actually quite good

Matt Ryan Drew Brees and Brady had some of the highest completion % last year, and their offenses were as high powered as any offense in the league.

football doesn't care how you move it as you do move it. high completion offenses are usualylly more efficient, sustain more drives and tire out the opposing defenses more. you couple it with a good run game and you have a very potent offense.

I can maybe see how a casual fan prefers big plays and shyt, but big low %plays are inferior to many small high % plays that extend drives and keep your defense off the field, while tiring out the opposing defense
