When did book fairs get so expensive

Baby girl goes to the church school ( not Catholic) and the books in here high as hell
One of the dads was like "damn is this tithes and offering or for the kids, y'all Jesus n----- tripping"
I can't lie I hate the n word but that shyt made me
But when did books get to be $10-$20 for Lil kids? shyt used to be $1-$5 back in the day

It's always been over priced BS that's how they're able to sell in the school. They have to split some of the profits with the school/district.

Sidenote, if you can, gathering up enough money to buy everyone books goes a long way. When I was a kid, if they let us, I could only browse, but one day a teacher bought the entire class books, she definitely had a profound impact on my life.

I thought they were always pricey but I might be remembering wrong. I never had money for the book fair so $1 prolly would have been expensive to me

I bought 3 books and left $20 for needy kids. But all the kids in elementary doing book fairs

Your best bet, usually around this time of year or in december, would be to check if public libraries round your way are selling old stock off

Barring that, Goodwill sells books for those prices

I was a jit when my ol girl took me downtown to get $25 worth of books, we'd get ice cream afterwards, simpler days

This would play on the radio all the time too and listening to it just reminds me of those days

Schools ruined reading and college makes you not even smell a library...its all trap.

How is this not making reading fun? Speaking as a father with 4 boys. There are a myriad of ways to make reading fun outside of the random overpriced book fair.

I remember getting a whole bunch of books for 20 bucks in school, maybe like 2 or 3 I really liked then a shytty old 99p one for good measure

My bro girl tpld me they are asking for £10 for non uniform day

When my son started school 5 years ago it was, £2 MAX
When I was in school it was 50p
