To be honest, breh, it sort of breaks whatever seriousness the game claims to have from an aesthetics standpoint, 'cause the game was always founded on these tough as nails, 'army of one' bad asses roaming about and now you got
skins roaming about, jiggling and sparkling for absolutely no discernable fukkin' reason other than monetary greed, breh.
I don't hold the COD series close to my heart to cry and whinge like white anti woke males would about this sort of shyt, but it's gotten absurd as fukk.
I mean celebs like Snoop Dogg and the Military Drill sergant Cac (Forgot his name right now) were bad enough, then they started giving you Basketball players and Nikki Minaj which made it worse, but now we got full on Cartoon characters and them meth'd out baby terrorizers above.
While I can personally enjoy it, the absurdity is kinda jarring. COD used to be a day 1 purchase for damn near the whole world in it's hey day and now it's free on Gamepass 'cause it's core audience is being pushed out for folk that don't mind or want to troll with silly shyt while enjoying a serviceable shooter.

CoD was the perfect balance between Realism and Arcade. That's why it was/is a hit.
I don't want to see someone take a bong hit after a kill or some shyt. I'd play a different game for that.

Aesthetics, breh, not realism. I'm talking about the overall look and lore of the game in terms of characters.
Anyone wanting a realistic experience were ushered towards Battlefield games.
But now you got master splinter and the light skin nikka from the Suns in a suit lobbing grenades at you 'cause someone thought it would be cool to purchase a pack and roll on out there. I'm not for it or against it, but I can understand why people wouldn't like the shyts.

COD is MMO status now since it's a whole platform now that links several games, instead of just a singular unique title every year.
When you have a situation like this, people are going to look for expressing individuality when they're playing the same thing across years. Especially when immersion is already ruined from blending different COD games together and creating this multiverse type enviornment in Warzone.

You like the game but find the base characters lame or not that enticing. I copped the Arnie skin solely for moments like this shyt.
Top of the leader boards.
Game winning play.
Calling Cacs cum coloured cockroaches over the mic in a horrid Arnold voice was worth every penny I spent on this skin and the subsequent warnings/bans for 'inappropriate voice chat'

Also Ghosts had one of the earliest introduction of non COD related IPs, mainly with the Predator
