i remember back in the day if you ain't have a custom made system in yo car, yo shyt won't official but then times changed and havin' just the factory shyt in yo car was good enough. but when did the times change on this?

mid 2000s maybe? :patrice:
Yeah, around there. The high-end luxury car companies were installing custom speakers as an option so customers didn't feel the need to upgrade. For real, who wants a dude getting paid around $30,000 jacking up your interior for a car that is worth twice his salary when they can install it from the factory.
Still, serious audio dudes want to go the whole nine with multiple amps, cross-overs, custom tweeters, subs, speakers and enclosures.

I have a JBL system in my Toyota. I have no real reason to upgrade.

Logic 7 setup in my shytty old Bimmer 5 series. It's about worthless enough so that I can risk putting a smidge more bass in it and if something breaks, I won't care....just want maybe a 10 ported thru the rear armrest. Don't want it heard outside. Them 8s under the seats ain't doing shyt.

It was mandatory to have a custom system when I was 16. I had my kenwood detachable face and 8" woofers on deck. Can't remember what amp.

But my current ride options that I picked up came with 6 speaker bose w a sub and it's a great system. I'd never fukk with it.

using all these for a post

almost everyone is right in their own way

back in the day your car came with literally, paper speakers... shytty all the way around... even nice 25-30k car was coming with some shytty speakers

now what MOST did.... replace the head unit... add in an amp and some 12s... and call it a day

TO DO THAT TODAY.... would be fukking retarded

first off, on a mid range car, say my mazda 3..... it came with 8 bose speakers and a built in, above the dash, radio, satellite, bluetooth, navi system

so for a "system" i'd have to go ahead and VOID my warranty by ripping all that brand new, expensive equipment out... then pay some other fool to reinstall new shyt right back in... oh and i gotta pay for that new shyt as well.. all to get some thumps in it, cause everything else, i already have... and that'll probably cost 2-3k and up between purchase and uninstall, reinstall

well i think the audio heads are right is...................... IF YOU DO A PROPER SETUP.... it would be worth it.

that's not head unit, amp, woofers..... that's a lot of custom speakers, EQ's, crossovers, bass blockers for certain speakers, high grade wiring, amps for not only the woofers, but for other main speakers as well, tweeters, controllers, AND then you got to program them all correctly and fine tune the actual sound coming out

that can't be compared to anything stock... and i mean anything... lambos come with 30k system inside... still wouldn't touch what a great audio shop could do for you though

that being said... i'm not willing to go high grade... my bose does me fine and i don't spend enough time in the car, to be throwing thousands in, to get a 5 notches better... my car ain't the club no more.. i'm good where i'm at

but my old volvo... that was two seconds away from getting it before i crashed it
