Them eclectic cats like him always are on the verge of "losing the sauce"

His early backpack shyt is fire..

Then when they start "tapping into their creativity " shyt be going awry

This is very true.

And we could apply this to a lot of the 90's underground dudes like Mos.

victim of his own success.
People always want today's work to exceed yesterday's, but objectively speaking, he came out the gate with a classic hip hop album. How can you follow Black on Both Sides without nikkas claiming you fell off?

When he thought having immense talent is enough to go through life whether it be music, movies or personal affairs

If hip hop bohemia had a spokesperson it would be def Mos

He definitely been drifting for a long time and he reminds me of Lisa Bonet in some regard with that (drifting and just sort of doing whatever)

When he stopped dropping albums after The Ecstatic in 2009. This was also the time when he had some crazy features with Jay Electronica (Exhibit B, Holiday) and Reflection Eternal (Just Begun). It was pretty silent for the next 10 years. Luckily he was more active again the last 5 years with features on albums by Navy Blue, JID, etc. and the recent Blackstar album dropping. Need that Alchemist album asap.

Yeah a lot of early success that then inflated his ego and had him on cloud 9 before he had really even hit his stride as an artist

I just remember where it was the an award show (Essence awards) and they gave him a Lifetime Achievement award or something and this was like 2003 lol

Let me see if I can find it

Edit here it is lol

LMAO @ getting a lifetime achievement award 4 years after the first Black Star album.

Giving him that bootleg Miseducation of Lauryn Hill treatment.

I maybe wrong about it being a lifetime achievement award but he definitely was honored and won an award :russ:

Fall apart? What are you talking about? The last Black Star album was dope, doesn't he have an album with Alchemist dropping soon?
His output has never been consistent, he works when he feels like it. When had he done some wack music to signify it falling apart? Please tell me.

I just mean in terms of being more consistent when you look at his strong start

I’m on of the few who thinks the last Blackstar album was nice too

I’m being subjective, but for most fans, albums like The New Danger and True Magic were letdowns/forgettable. Same with Dec 99th, even tho I personally enjoy some of the songs on those albums.

If his ALC album dropped on Friday all these naysayers would be clamoring to listen. Nothing fell apart for Mos Def, if you don't like some of his work that's fine but it's mostly well received especially his last release.

Of course we’d all listen to it but it has to actually drop for us to listen too and we all know that album was suppose to come out months ago and now here we are about to enter another whole year

Meanwhile Alchemist has been promoting every other album he’s been involved in because I guess Mos has cold feet about the album or just is dragging his feet for whatever reason

His last release as that Money Christmas EP that still ain’t never officially come out and was only available on bandcamp for a limited amount of time

Im a fan of Mos (yasiin) but I can be subjective and all out the bullshyt when I see it

So really you're just mad he isn't releasing stuff at the pace you see fit? That's more of a you problem than a him problem. Like you said you would be really into listening to it.
There could be 100 different reasons why he hasn't dropped and he really doesn't have to explain anything to anyone. If you are still a fan no need to talk shyt about him because he isn't doing exactly what you want him to do.
