somewhere along the line it just become popular to hate on COD and blame all the ills of gaming on COD. if you dare criticize some beloved niche japanese game you'll be told to "go play COD" implying anyone with bad taste likes COD.

If Activision was smart, they'd skip a year and release a large DLC expansion pack instead. If they aren't careful they'll kill the franchise, ala Guitar Hero. Or something else will come up and steal COD's spot.

asscreed doesn't get NEARLY as much hate as COD, despite releasing even more games in the same time period (counting mobile games too)

Yup COD4 is on the same status as well. BlackOps is mostly known for being the GOAT of the Zombies part of the game. MW3 is what really started the bandwagon for hating on COD. Soon, after another game release and yearly releases they talk about " it's the same shyt like before, maps not big enough, these weak ass kill streaks, etc...", but every time when the game comes to release, everybody still bought it.

Just like with Destiny, when the The Taken King expansion pack came out, that horrible ass interview on how they planned on releasing the expansion pack for $40 after already buying Expanision pack I & II for $35 with I think the director or somebody in the Bungie team. Basically, everybody was pissed on how they rolled it out, but when it was released, they STILL bought the fukking game...

All bark and no bite, so I never take these cats serious...
