from what I heard crime & fukkery was still crazy in NY well into the 90's. so to the new yorkers on here, at what point did you notice the change when NYC was chilling out a bit and becoming gentrified?

the 2000's? but even in the 2000's crazy shyt like 9/11 happened..:whoa:

new york seems to have calmed down a lot now

The early 1990s was still rough.
In the mid-late 90s you still had gangs in a lot of areas though. Latin Kings, Nietas and Bloods in some places. But by the late 90s early 2000s, it felt like it died down and most of those guys got sent to prison.

I should check the stats to see if that checks out tho.
