When did the "JLo Booty" myth start and why did we allow it to continue?

Any new 'craze' cannot have Black people as the face of it all..come on now, you should know Cacs better than this by now.

So when the assless cac species discovered Black people celebrating themselves they used their biased media and pushed the Latina hoe to serve as the face of big booty. Cacs are savages!

I get that, but I hate when us black people play into it, it is so annoying.

There is nothing impressive about JLO booty.

That’s what I’m saying black woman wasn’t holding in that era.

Them asses in 2Live Crew videos with high waisted thongs and in Baby Got Back aren’t fat asses by today’s standards.

It was no Dr. Miami and it was no muscle booty gym and weight training like that then.
nah it wasnt that, black women donr get celebrated for their traits...yall be saying the same thing with Kylie popularized thicker lips when BW have always had those lips.

Lets just face it, nothing that black women do beauty wise gets mainstream attention like that. It's cool I have accepted that, but I hate when black people play into this logic.

I hated seeing it..it reinforced in my mind that Black peoples confidence and self esteem is low low low.

Some people saying chicks didn't have much ass in the 90s are probably too young to remember those times. What do you think 'Baby got back' was all about? Black women have always had ass, so did Puerto Rican chicks. I remember it well living in New York.

The whole craze started with J-Lo 20 years ago when she was really popping....as a lighter skinned latina her image was way more palatable. They weren't gonna make a black woman with a nice ass mainstream. In later years Kim Kardashian came on the scene and well, the rest is history. Now you got white women out of nowhere with asses - a lot of them fake - and the rest trying to make whatever ass they have bigger. It's amusing to me cos I remember when having a big ass was seen as nasty and white women were the LAST ones to want it - hence the skit at the beginning of the Baby got back video. They're all over IG now. Having a big ass is a must for a lot of women - even Asian chicks who never had ass AT ALL.

The obsession some women have in wanting a huge ass nowadays is crazy. I never thought I'd see the day when many black women would get ass injections. You got Lastarya who already had a big natural ass when she came out now have a build a body.

I love a nice ass but some women have fukked their bodies up and look ridiculous.

I prefer the bodies women had in the 90s to be honest.

These were the famous black women we all loved in the 90's:

Halle Berry, Aaliyah, Nia Long, Toni Braxton, Vivica, Lela Rochon, Janet, Jada, Robin Givens, Jasmine Guy, Lark Voorhees, Tatyana Ali

None of them were holding. We used to argue whether we'd wife Chili or T Boz:mjlol:

We didn't really see cakes on TV from a black woman until Pam. J Lo's ass was fat in the mainstream and was bigger than black women's in the mainstream as well. You only saw women who were really holding around the way and they didn't look anything like these women of today. Gyms weren't everywhere and if you weren't holding naturally you were stuck with what you have. Don't let ig and these women who do squats all week fool you. Slim women were the standard in the 90's.

A fat ass in 2020 is not what it was in the 90's.

That's a random woman in a video:mjlol:

Obviously if we're talking J Lo it's about what's mainstream. If you gotta pull up a Keith Sweat groupie you're arguing against your own point.

Name famous women who were holding in the 90's.

I said Pam and Adina wasn't really holding like that:

Neither were mainstream enough for this conversation. 95% of the famous women in the 90's were slim and didn't have ass.

I don't think anybody is saying black women weren't holding in the 90s, we're saying you didn't see anything like that in the mainstream. You might've seen this

and more around the way but it wasn't on your TV at all.

And speaking of baby got back, this is what the featured dancers were working with..

Only one of them (the chick with the black thing on her waist) had anything like a phatty and she wasn't even the star of the video...in a video about big asses.

I remember Beyoncé really putting ass in the mainstream more than J-Lo to be honest. People used to overhype J-lo booty but when Beyoncé with Destiny Child was rocking her thickness it was a wrap.

By the time “Check on It” and Crazy In Love started, blk chicks were synonymous with ass and “Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh...oh no no.”
