If you were on , then you remember that thread when all the east coast vets were legit when they said that Hip Hop quality died in Summer of 2005.

D4L, Lil Jon, Franchise Boyz, etc were making club/dance songs. NY nikkas mad they weren’t the big dawgs anymore so they started saying that. Even though rap literally started from club/party songs

Full rep for this thread. Thank you. Party records are dismissed as unimportant by a lot of hip hop heads but like others have said it moved the genre forward and helped shape it to what it is now. Also … guess what … it’s often the transition between eras … we’re overdue for an another party phase in my opinion.
