When did tricking take over as the primary source of urban entertainment?

When did this happen? I know tricking wasn't that big back in the day. I used to live in NYC in the 90s and everyone just chilled outside and smoked, block parties, dudes going to the underground to party. It wasn't tricking or strip club central back in the day just people chillin and listening to music.

Now it's tricking 24-7, they got longer lines at Office here in Miami than at clubs these days, it seems every dude from overseas with paper trying to open some exotic club to get money. Drinks are the same price at a strip club as in Club Euro lol.

When did tricking take off like this? I hear ATL is damn near a strip club capital.
